Hi Charlea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing On You Essentials started as a passion project rooted in love and family. My mom always struggled with hair growth, and it deeply affected her confidence. I wanted to help her using natural herbs, so I began researching and experimenting with different ingredients.
Then, in 2019, I became a mom, and my daughter faced similar hair growth challenges. That pushed me even further into research mode—I was determined to find a solution. After countless hours of studying and formulating, I created a hair growth formula that worked. Seeing the transformation in both my mom and daughter was the spark that led to Growing On You Essentials.
What started as a personal mission turned into a business dedicated to helping others embrace their natural beauty with handcrafted, effective, and nourishing hair and skincare products. Today, I continue to refine my formulas, expanding my product line with carefully selected ingredients that promote healthy growth and self-confidence.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. As a mom of two children diagnosed with autism, my time is largely dedicated to their needs and schedules. Balancing motherhood and running a business has been challenging, especially when it comes to marketing and content creation—I’ve had to put those on the back burner at times. However, despite the ups and downs, I’m grateful for my loyal customers who continue to support my brand. Their trust in my products keeps me motivated, and I’m constantly finding ways to adapt and grow, even in the midst of life’s challenges.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently work for the Department of the Treasury as a contact representative, where I specialize in assisting individuals with financial and tax-related inquiries. Additionally, I’m a notary in the state of Maryland, helping clients with important legal documentation.
Beyond my professional roles, I’m deeply passionate about holistic health and natural remedies, which has earned me the title of ‘The Herb Specialist’ in my family. I love exploring the benefits of herbs and holistic medicine to promote overall well-being.
Another thing that sets me apart is my love for capturing memories. My family calls me ‘The Paparazzi’ because I’m always recording and taking pictures at gatherings. It brings me joy to have preserved moments with loved ones, especially those who are no longer with us.
However, my proudest accomplishment is becoming a mom. I always dreamed of having children, and motherhood has been the most rewarding and fulfilling journey of my life.
How do you think about luck?
I believe both good and bad luck have played a role in my life, shaping who I am today. Life isn’t always peaches and cream—it’s full of ups and downs, and I’ve experienced both.
One example of good luck was when I went to Las Vegas years ago and almost hit the jackpot. While I didn’t win the grand prize, I still walked away with a win, which felt like a lucky moment. On the flip side, I’ve also faced challenges. As a child, I was teased, and although those experiences still affect me to this day, I use them as motivation to keep pushing forward.
Right now, I’m in the process of building my website, and while it’s been a challenge, I believe once it’s up and running, my luck will shift for the better. At the end of the day, luck may play a role, but resilience and determination are what truly make a difference.
