Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantelle Wedderburn.
Hi Chantelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi my name is Chantelle Wedderburn, I’m from the beautiful country of Jamaica. I am a preschool teacher who not only loves educating children but also enjoys being in the kitchen. The joy of people enjoying my creations inspired me to start making my cooking videos. As a child, I was always in the kitchen with my mom, which made me love cooking even more. In high school, my focus was food and nutrition, so I knew it would always be a part of me. During the pandemic, I noticed food videos were very popular. I wanted to start doing videos to showcase my work but didn’t think I was good enough to post any videos. Until one day, I said to myself you can do it. Either they will like it or they won’t, but it will be something I’m doing that I love.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, it has not been a smooth transition. Social media has its ups and downs; trying to stay on the up is a bit difficult. But giving up was not an option for me. The more videos I made, the more people would see and like my content. I am learning about social media analytics to better engage with my audience regarding the products I am marketing to them.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of my position for food and educating young minds. I am a pre-school education teacher, and I’m also a food curator and commentator. I am known for my love of children and my delicious tasting dishes. What sets me apart from others is my unique style of creating different dishes.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
For education, I had a few teachers that I looked up to, and I hoped I would be like them one day. I admired their passion for their students, and I see that in myself. My passion for cooking came from my mom. She always had me helping her while she cooked and baked, and I always loved the bond we had while in the kitchen.
