Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Alexander.
Hi Bri, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started with a curious discomfort about the trajectory of my life. Initially, I thought I wanted to be an interpreter, but two degrees and ten years later, I still hadn’t arrived. I realized I no longer had that desire, yet attached so much meaning to achieving it. It was humbling to sit with myself and honestly explore those feelings.
Why was I relentlessly pursuing something I was no longer passionate about? My life was on autopilot, I played it safe and did what I thought I should. I was essentially sacrificing my joy. In 2018, I experienced a painful loss, which served as my ultimate wake-up call. It forced me to be still and reevaluate life’s unfolding. I yearned for a purpose-filled life, and although I wasn’t sure where to start, it was to make some changes.
I began therapy, eventually unmarried, and sought ways to reconnect with my truth. I decided to spend the year alone overseas, and it was admittedly one of the best decisions I could’ve made for myself. Healing became a priority, and moving forward, everything came into alignment.
The beauty of this rediscovery is that I permitted myself to explore life without expectations of outcomes. I approach life differently now and this chapter has been full of adventure.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I will say, I have felt very guided for the past two years. Starting a business as many of us know is challenging – as a new entrepreneur, you often wear all of the hats, learning and shifting, to keep your vision moving forward. I think the Capricorn in me flourishes in this role, though. Through the hardships, I commit to the journey and show up to do the work when no one is watching. It can be difficult to find discipline, especially when balancing other jobs for income.
I decided to invest over $10,000 of my savings to build this business within the first few months. That meant that other areas of my life had to suffer to an extent. It has paid off, though. When you have aligned intentions for the greater good, God & the Universe conspire in your favor. I genuinely believe that.
My heart is 100% into what I do, and I am blessed to say that this rarely feels like work. Plus, I enjoy this foundation-building process, and the sense of community. Many clients have been drawn to my work organically through social media or word of mouth, which I am very grateful for. Whenever I experience intrusive thoughts and feelings, as everyone does, I hold onto the connections as reminders of the bigger picture.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The goal is to help others manage everyday stress.
I am a holistic wellness coach on a mission to empower the community through energy work, sound, and movement. Bri Alexander Wellness was born out of my journey to wellness, and each modality I offer has contributed to my healing in some capacity.
Sound healing, dance healing, and Reiki are my main offerings, and how I enjoy holding space. I often mix in a few other modalities like somatic stretching, journaling, and laughter yoga, too. My approach to wellness is pretty down-to-earth so that an absolute beginner can feel right at home.
I am proud of my entire journey and having the courage to remain authentic to myself. One of my greatest lessons in this lifetime is living on my terms.
*Insert Zoe Saldana quote* “I know who I am. I love who I am. I like what I do, and I like how I do it. I like my mistakes, I like the way I learn, and I like the pace with which I learn my mistakes. I don’t want to be anybody else but me.”
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Join me in a sound healing experience! I am in DC, Maryland, and sometimes Virginia. I am always open to partnerships with universities, small businesses, and corporate groups to bring sustainable holistic wellness to the mainstream.
