Today we’d like to introduce you to Belinda Johnson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into entrepreneurship didn’t start as a straight line. It started with passion, resilience, and a willingness to rebuild.
I’ve spent over 20 years in the media industry, working in broadcast television across multiple departments including production, programming, and public affairs. That experience shapes how I communicate, tell stories, and connect with people but fitness has always been my passion, personal outlet, and source of strength.
In 2020, I co-founded an indoor cycling studio with a vision to create something different, a space that felt like a community, not just a workout. We built a brand that people loved, and after years of navigating challenges, including launching during the pandemic, the reality of our overhead made it clear the business model wasn’t sustainable long-term. Behind the scenes, I was also navigating a very difficult chapter both personally and professionally.
As my marriage was ending, I also made the decision to walk away from a business that was no longer healthy for me. That season required me to dig deep, rebuild my confidence, and redefine what I wanted not just in business, but in life.
From that place, CycleFit Studio was born. We opened March 2026.
CycleFit Studio isn’t just a fitness brand it’s a reflection of who I’ve become. It’s built on discipline, confidence, and community. I wanted to create a space where people feel empowered, supported, and seen, where they can transform not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.
Today, we operate in a more intimate, boutique setting in Catonsville, and while it’s a smaller footprint, the impact is just as powerful if not more. Every ride, every class, every connection matters.
This journey has taught me that sometimes you have to let go of what you built to step into what you’re truly meant to create. And I’m just getting started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, my journey has been filled with both wins and hard lessons.
One of the biggest challenges was launching a fitness business in 2020, right at the start of the pandemic. We had to pivot quickly, adapt to constant uncertainty, and find creative ways to stay connected to our community while navigating shutdowns and restrictions.
As the business grew, I also faced challenges around overhead and sustainability. The cost of maintaining a large space made it difficult to sustain long-term, which forced some tough decisions about the future of the business.
At the same time, I was navigating personal challenges, including the end of my marriage and stepping away from a business partnership that was no longer aligned with my well-being. That was one of the most difficult seasons of my life balancing personal healing while making major business decisions.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the founder of CycleFit Studio, a boutique indoor cycling and strength training experience built on discipline, confidence, and community. At the core, what we do is help people transform not just physically, but mentally and emotionally through intentional movement and a supportive environment.
We specialize in creating high-energy, music-driven cycling classes paired with effective strength training that builds real, lasting results. It’s that “club energy with purpose” where people can show up, release stress, build strength, and leave feeling empowered. Whether on the bike or on the floor, every class is designed to challenge the body and strengthen the mindset.
What I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built. People don’t just come for the workout they come for the connection, the accountability, and the way they feel when they walk out of the room. Creating a space where people feel safe, confident, and inspired to push themselves is something I don’t take lightly.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend experience with intention. My background in media and storytelling allows me to create an atmosphere that’s engaging, immersive, and emotionally impactful. At the same time, my journey personally and professionally has given me a deeper understanding of resilience, discipline, and what it really takes to rebuild and grow.
I’m not just building a fitness brand I’m building a movement centered around purpose, strength, growth, and community.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is creating impact, helping people feel stronger, more confident, and more in control of their lives.
For a long time, I was in survival mode, both personally and professionally, and I know what it feels like to lose yourself. So now, everything I build is rooted in helping others reconnect with who they are and who they’re capable of becoming. That’s what drives me.
Community also matters deeply to me. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when people feel supported, seen, and encouraged. At CycleFit, it’s not just about the workout it’s about creating a space where people can show up as they are, be challenged, and leave better than they came in.
And ultimately, what matters most is alignment building a life and a business that reflects my values, protects my peace, and allows me to grow without compromise. Because when you’re aligned, everything you create has purpose behind it.
