Conversations with AstroKnot Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to AstroKnot Collective.

Hello AstroKnot, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
The AstroKnot Collective was birthed through the AstroKnot Hair show on August 28th, 2021. Our Founder, Neru Thee Fourth Fugee, curated her first Hair show called “AstroKnot.” An afro futuristic fashion/hair show that highlights a slew of black looks and hairstyles, hair art, and hair sculptures created and crafted by the head stylist Daizy. A quote from our founder – “Bronner Bros early 2000s hair shows have always inspired me, and being that hair is so heavily intertwined with my brand, I thought it would make sense to curate my own.” The event was successful; we were even featured on Baltimore’s LED Artboard. From there blossomed, the conglomerate. In November 2021, Neru founded a collective called “AstroKnot,” equipped with innovative creators from musicians to healers to visual artists and so much more. Since then, we’ve curated several events, including hair shows, youth art drives, musical events, community events, and more. We’ve also acquired several residencies around the city, and this is just the beginning.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every journey has a few bumps, but we continue to stay solid with one another and push each other until we reach our end goal.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our Mission Statement – A movement of innovators collaborating on projects, events, campaigns, tours, visuals, etc. With the common goal to elevate, cultivate, reciprocate and be great! We’ve created a community and village. We specialize in almost everything: photography, videography, music, curation, visual art, activism, herbalism, and more. We have a slew of different artists from different art mediums. We’re a family full of secret weapons.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
