Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonia Gates.
Hi Antonia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Business “Boss Mom Living” came to fruition officially in 2019. As a content creator, I decided to start sharing my story and journey as a mom, wife, and entrepreneur through Instagram and YouTube. I then also started to share my journey on my blog.
Back in 2015 my husband and I got married and wanted to start having children right away. Unfortunately, we came across some infertility issues. We tried multiple things, saw different doctors, and nothing worked.
By 2018, I literally gave up going to doctors and just focused on myself and my journey with God. I started going a natural route with my fertility journey and I shared my first YouTube video on finally becoming pregnant with my first child in the Fall of 2018.
Currently, I work full-time as a teacher and content creator. My lifelong dream has always been to be a mother and when God gave me the opportunity to do so I felt like I had to share my journey to encourage others who had fertility issues to not give up. I now have two beautiful daughters that continue to remind me of how blessed I am.
Since 2018, I have created content not only for my social media platforms but have worked with brands nationally and locally collaborating on things that I feel have helped me as a mom, wife, and business owner. Through my personal content creation journey, I have gained knowledge in photography, graphic design, writing, and social media marketing.
I currently not only create content for myself, but for other businesses as well with the skills I have learned. Boss Mom Living Brands, LLC is now the formal name for my business. I enjoy creating content and helping others in the process. What was first considered to be a part-time hobby, is now a full-time dream of mine as I love what I do!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been smooth. I struggled in the beginning with how to connect with others through social media and it’s still a learning process because things are always changing.
I have enjoyed building my Instagram to where it is now and I hope to make more connections with more brands locally and internationally, as well as with others who are going through the parenting process and marriage to expand my platforms.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I consider myself a creative person. Since I was young it’s something I’ve always loved to do. I enjoy coming up with bright ideas and following through on my vision. Whenever I create content for myself or for other brands/companies, I always brainstorm on what type of content I can create that will help another person who will see this on social media.
I first think of, who am I creating this for, then how can I help them. I then go into what type of visual should I make to engage others who may need this content (such as photos, videos, quotes, infographics, etc.) I then use different apps to edit my photos or another type of content. I come up with a title, caption, researched hashtags, etc (depending on what’s needed for that particular content), and I finally put it on my content calendar.
My content calendar is where I decide what gets posted on what date on my social media as well as when I deliver content for another business who I may be making content or collaborating with. I am most proud of the skills that I have developed along the way in learning different editing techniques, learning about things such as SEO, building my own website, and going through the process of building an actual business.
I am building a legacy for my children and future generations. What sets me apart from other content creators is my story and my journey. Not everyone has been through what I’ve been through or worked through the things that I’ve had to get here. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and where I am heading.
What matters most to you? Why?
Helping others recognize the potential in themselves and see my reality of motherhood, being a wife, full-time employee, entrepreneur, or just the reality of going through life is most important to me.
Nothing in life comes easy, but we have to find ways to enjoy this journey through life and be grateful for our blessings. I love being a mom, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy, especially when you also have a full-time job and a business.
That’s the purpose of Boss Mom Living. I hope that my story can inspire others to continue on their journey whether it’s motherhood, starting a business from the ground up, or just getting through a day-to-day work-life balance.
