Community Highlights: Meet Trish Brewer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trish Brewer.

Hi Trish, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My own experience healing trauma through breathwork deepened my conviction in its transformative power. I have always felt called toward the healing arts, but it was an unexpected medical emergency that pushed me to unequivocally commit myself to helping others. When we make the choice to heal ourselves, to bring more light and love to our lives, we experience life as we are meant to, as our true, whole selves.

My spiritual journey began when this medical emergency forced a change in my lifestyle. It brought daily meditation and journaling into my life to support and advance my recovery. That unexpected twist put me on the path of self-discovery and healing and ultimately led me to develop my practice.

An unfolding began as deep layers of stored trauma surfaced. From there, the healing within began and then rippled outward.

A soul purpose I had been longing for emerged through this outward ripple of healing. A dear friend, and my Reiki Master Teacher, recognized the need for a community where women could gather to share healing modalities, tools, and simply BE. A place to EXHALE, as one of the members said. Co-founding this group and leading these monthly gatherings was the beginning for me.

From here, I began to find my voice, train in multiple energy healing modalities as well as mindfulness practices, and grow a practice to help others beyond this beautiful group of women.

I am still a work in progress. Continuing to peel back the layers so I can be the best possible version of myself and show up intentionally for my family, my friends and my clients. I make mistakes and see them as my greatest lessons.

It is always my intention to provide a nurturing and compassionate space for my clients.

I earned my Breath Coach Certification from Yoga Teachers College, studied under David Elliot, a Breathwork pioneer, received my Usui Reiki training through Divine Tri Source, and completed my trauma training with the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) Training Institute.

Today I am a trauma-informed Breathwork Facilitator, Reiki Master Practitioner, and Intuitive Guide. I have lead over 100 circles and private sessions combined.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Finding my voice and speaking my truth has been a journey. Not an easy one, I might add.

From early childhood through adolescence, I had been told so many stories that eventually, I suppressed my voice.

I was…. Too loud. Too fat. Too aggressive. Too argumentative. Too opinionated. Too headstrong. Too sensitive. I needed to be a good girl and not talk back. I lived with a parent and a sibling that were bigger than life. I have been dismissed more times than I can count by men and women alike. It is no wonder that I am just now, in my 50’s, truly using my voice.

Today I find myself leading groups, both in person and online. A few years ago, I even found myself teaching a group of high school students about mediation and leading them in a session! I am setting energetic boundaries around family members that like to push my buttons. I am speaking up about my values and my beliefs as it pertains to the state of our country and human beings. I am sharing more about my past trauma so that I can heal and in hopes that others can do the same. I am showing up more authentically as myself each day sharing my God-given gifts.

What helped get this formerly shy Italian girl speaking out and standing tall you may ask. It started with therapy, journaling, meditation, and Reiki to aid in my recovery after a medical emergency knocked me out of my comfort zone and required I make some changes to my life. All of which I still take part in today. But Breathwork was the breakthrough for me. It was the next level of energy work that peeled back a layer of my life that made me see with such clarity and with such a sense of peace what was necessary.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My goal as a trauma-informed Breathwork and Reiki Master Practitioner is to guide and support your growth and healing so that you can experience life as your fully actualized self, your whole self. I use a broad spectrum of modalities to guide you along the way and meet you where you are. Whether it is breath coaching for a healthier, less stressful life or active breathwork for a deeper dive into what you may be holding in your body or Reiki for an energetic shift with ease. Whatever it is you are looking for we will begin with your intention.

It is my intention to provide clients with a nurturing and compassionate space to be seen and heard.

What does success mean to you?
Success is living an authentical life. One that honors your core values.
