Community Highlights: Meet Toccara Myers of Evolving Beauty Makeover Studio LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toccara Myers

Hi Toccara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a mother of 2 boys 17 and 19 and a wife of 21 years.
I started in the beauty industry over 10 years ago as a freelance makeup artist while being a banker. As a makeup artist I’ve serviced women going through divorce, sickness, depression and just the over whelming cares of life. I witnessed transformations on the outside transcend to healing in the inside of women. The level of confidence these women possess after the transformation changed my life. This is when my purpose was realized. I wanted to be apart of the healing process for women through aiding in confidence boosting.
As time went on I experienced several of my family members encounter cancer diagnosis. My maternal aunt who is a breast cancer survivor, maternal grandparents and my paternal grand mother all passed away from cancer. As we looked around the world cancer became more and more prevalent. Through these experiences my purpose evolved. God gave me the vision to open a full service salon for women experiencing cancer, survived cancer, and caregivers. Thus Evolving Beauty Makeover Studio LLC was born. A full service salon offering, hair, nails, makeup, lash extensions, custom wigs, makeup classes and makeup products sold for retail. We also are accepting select health insurance to assist cancer patients with custom wigs (cranial prosthesis).
We are a cancer support community promoting, hope, healing, awareness, confidence and restoration. We partner with local cancer organizations and participate in community events to promote awareness.
Evolving Beauty serves as a one stop shop luxury safe space for these women. We believe that beauty have different looks, stories and even scars.
Through the journey as we have now been open for one year we have encountered cancer warriors and survivors that are unable to afford custom wigs and other services that will aid in their psychological healing. I recently created a nonprofit Magnolia Cancer Foundation Inc. this is an extension of Evolving Beauty that will provide funding for women that are financially unable to afford custom wigs and other services.
This nonprofit is in honor of my maternal grandmother Mildred Magnolia Watson. The Magnolia flower symbolizes strength, love beauty and connection. All of these characteristics are what Evolving Beauty Makeover Studio is about and we want to share these traits with our clients, who are fighting cancer.
Every woman should beam with confidence, living, feeling and looking their absolute best.
Thank you for allowing me to share my story.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. It’s been tough financially, marketing and keeping dedicated staff, but I know through these struggles I have learned lessons that will make me better for the next Evolving Beauty Salon as I eventually will expand to several locations because I know this is a need.

We’ve been impressed with Evolving Beauty Makeover Studio LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
See my story
What sets us apart is the specialty of the salon the audience. The other thing is we have all beauty services in one location. In a beautiful atmosphere.
I am most proud to be able to really change someone life.
What I would like the readers to know about my brand is it’s not just a salon it’s helping these women through their healing journey. We tried our best to make sure we can service each woman whether it be the woman who can pay out of pocket, the woman who is not financially stable and the woman who has an acceptable health insurance we can bill for custom wig.
We offer hair, nails, makeup, lash extensions, wigs and makeup classes.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband Tavon Myers has been my support system along with my mom and sisters.
