Community Highlights: Meet Teneieha Bell-Thompson Angel Thompson-Cephas of Bell’s Reines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teneieha Bell-Thompson Angel Thompson-Cephas.

Teneieha Bell-Thompson, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Bell’s Reines is a journey of heritage, technical precision, and “inclusive luxury” that began as a mother-daughter bond. Inspired by the warmth and integrity of our patriarch, Thomas Roosevelt Bell, Jr., we transitioned from a creative food blog into a sophisticated, ethical enterprise. By blending the “Science of Soft”—a pillowy-soft cookie protocol developed by chemist Angel Thompson-Cephas—with Teneisha Bell-Thompson’s extensive expertise in federal acquisitions and contract management, we have built a brand that is as much about family love as it is about logistical excellence.

Today, we serve as a specialty contractor and brand management firm for the museum, hospitality, healthcare, and government sectors. We recognized a void in the market for “Clean Label” snacks that meet rigorous compliance standards without sacrificing the premium, home-baked taste of real ingredients. From the shelves of the Smithsonian to large-scale government contracts, we provide fresh, bake-to-order solutions that avoid the synthetic stabilizers of mass-market brands. At our heart, we remain a family-led business dedicated to helping the world “Savor the Small Things” through snacks that are scientifically perfected and lovingly made.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has had its hurdles, primarily because we challenged the industry standard of a 90-day to six-month shelf-life. This expectation contradicts our “Bake-to-Order” commitment, and engineering a premium, pillowy-soft cookie without synthetic stabilizers required intense technical discipline. Over the last four years, navigating rigorous Non-GMO Project Verified audits has been an educational and rewarding journey, reinforcing the integrity of our clean, earth-derived ingredients. While some partners initially struggled with our specialized “Just In Time” (JIT) logistics—leading to hurdles with wholesale pricing and refund requests—we remained firm. We never embraced a “warehoused” mentality from day one because we believe a cookie should be consumed within a reasonable time from the oven to the tummy. We eat exactly what we make, and we view our partners and community as family who deserve that same home-baked honesty.

By staying true to the standards of excellence inspired by PaPa, we successfully realigned these relationships through education and logistical rigor. We’ve proven to our partners in museums, healthcare institutions, and government sectors that a shorter, fresher shelf-life provides a superior experience that mass-market products simply cannot match. Today, our JIT system works seamlessly across these high-performance environments, allowing us to meet strict compliance needs without losing our heart. At the end of the day, we are crafting more than just a snack; we are making cookies that make you smile, staying true to our mission of providing premium, loving solutions you can trust.

We’ve been impressed with Bell’s Reines, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bell’s Reines is an authentic, family-led specialty food logistics and compliance business that operates at the intersection of culinary art and technical precision. While the brand was co-founded by CEO Teneisha Bell-Thompson and Angel Thompson-Cephas, we are a true family enterprise supported by a team of specialists. Our organization is led by our President, Joyce Thompson, who keeps our team centered on the values of authenticity and loyalty, while Teneisha provides the strategic direction and logistical vision. As the “brains” behind the menu, Angel modernized our heritage recipes for today’s society, ensuring they meet modern standards without losing their soul. The team is rounded out by Kadeem Cephas, our Chief of Operations, Kevin Thompson, Jr., our Chief of Communications and Procurement Lead, and Antrone Winkey, our Director of Facilities. Together, we are on a mission to change the way the world experiences cookies by blending “inclusive luxury” with the high-stakes world of government contracting and institutional supply.

We specialize in premium, “Clean Label” snack solutions, known for our signature gold and red tins and our proprietary “Science of Soft” protocol. Unlike mass-market brands that rely on synthetic stabilizers for a long shelf life, we prioritize earth-derived ingredients like real butter, eggs, and cane sugar. We are known for our “Just In Time” (JIT) logistics and bake-to-order model, ensuring that every cookie is consumed within a reasonable time from the oven to the tummy. This commitment to freshness allows us to serve diverse, high-performance sectors—from the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture to healthcare institutions and government agencies—providing a snack that meets rigorous compliance standards without losing the warmth of a home-baked treat.

What sets us apart is our refusal to compromise on integrity. We never embraced a “warehoused” mentality from day one; instead, we have spent years navigating rigorous Non-GMO audits to ensure our ingredients remain pure. We want readers to know that Bell’s Reines is about more than just a snack—it’s an experience. We believe in “Savoring the Small Things,” whether that’s pairing a sea-salt chocolate chip cookie with a fine wine or sharing a moment of joy with family. We eat exactly what we make, treating our customers and partners as an extension of our own family.

Brand-wise, we are most proud of our resilience and our heritage. Named in honor of the legacy of Thomas Roosevelt Bell, Jr. (“PaPa”), our business proves that a “grace-led” authority can succeed in a competitive landscape. We take immense pride in providing a product where you know exactly what is in every bite. To support our mission of excellence, we utilize eco-friendly packaging and offer specialized catering services for professional and private events. We are also open to exploring Private Label Food Service opportunities with the right strategic partners who share our commitment to quality. We are here to bring fun, transparency, and a touch of royalty to the snack industry, showing the world that you can have a scientifically perfected product that still makes you smile.

What does success mean to you?
For Bell’s Reines, success is defined by becoming the premier, go-to gourmet cookie solution for the State of Maryland and our own Montgomery County while simultaneously expanding our reach as a global provider. By utilizing our membership with the Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA), we position ourselves as a worldwide solution, navigating international markets to ensure our “Oven to Tummy” philosophy reaches a global audience. Similarly, our involvement with the Specialty Food Association (SFA) reinforces our status as a leader in the premium snack industry, connecting us to the highest standards of our craft.

Success means leveraging these strategic alliances to ensure every consumer is fully knowledgeable about the clean, earth-derived ingredients they are consuming. We define our achievement by the integrity of our contracts—serving our local Maryland community with the same rigor we apply to international trade. Ultimately, we measure our success by the joy we bring to our customers and the pride we instill in our family legacy; we are having a good time, making PaPa proud, and showing the world that you can have a scientifically perfected product that still makes you smile.
