Community Highlights: Meet Robyn Blake of Blake Hair Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Blake.

Hi Robyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a child I was surrounded by beauty. I come from a very attractive family, and people were engulfed in the beauty industry from kitchen beauticians, braiders, barbers, and celebrity hairstylist. However, like most kids raised in the 90’s college was the track that was on until I got dropped from class right before end of semester exams. I took inventory of my life and enrolled in cosmetology school after break and never looked back in 21 years. Cosmetology is for me and now all I want to do is share it because it gives people a way to celebrate themselves, relax, and a therapy with their hairapy. As a studio owner, and instructor sharing my knowledge about cosmetology whether I’m doing a service or teaching class today I am content.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it a smooth road for me in the beauty industry. Struggles I’ve had along were being in the wrong location, losing my suite then working corporate and losing that job because of covid and losing both parents in a year while working rebuilding my clientele after covid.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a cosmetologist! I specialize in teaching Beauty Industry theory, color texture, business and hair extensions. I guide my clients through healthy hair journeys. Teach future professionals for a top brand. I’m most of being able to inspire and influence generations of Beauty Industry professionals. What sets me apart from others is that I explain the science of cosmetology specifically hair in a fun knowledgeable way to help my clients care for themselves and my students to be love and care for their clients all while still making them pretty and growing hair.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I would like to share that time, education, and the willingness to be patient with your growth will contribute to your success.
