Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I became registered as a veterinary technician in 2016 and have since worked in veterinary emergency hospitals, referral, hospitals, and general practice. I always saw a need to help more pet owners.

Some cats and dogs tend to get very stressed coming to the vet and some of the services offered can be performed at home: subcutaneous fluid administration, nail trims, and medication administration. I decided to start a business to help pet owners at home and there’s definitely been a need for my services.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One struggle was learning about how to run a business. I love what I do and that’s what I focus on. Learning about spreadsheets, website design, social media presence, and finances has been an ongoing and difficult process. It takes time away from doing what I love but I know it has to be done.

My mental and physical health were the biggest struggles I faced early on. I was newly diagnosed with eczema (contact dermatitis) and that affected my depression, finances, and will to press on. I luckily received an enormous amount of support and care that has helped me both mentally and physically and has motivated me to continue doing what I love. I now have a huge “toolbox” of things to manage depression and eczema.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Marleys Angels Mobile Vet. Techs.?
I am a registered veterinary technician. I went to the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, for a 2-year program and once completed, was able to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) in order to obtain a license. I renew my license every 3 years by continuing to follow the laws associated with my license and attending continuing education courses.

My passion is animal nutrition but I love the thought of being a “jack of all trades” technician where I know a little bit about as much as possible. I can learn. I have experience working in internal medicine where I performed anesthesia, which I love, aiding in endoscopies on cats and dogs, and learned a lot about client communication regarding a lot of topics.

I’ve worked in dermatology where I learned about skin conditions of cats and dogs, and I’ve worked in emergency and general practice. Whenever I have the opportunity to learn a new skill or dive into a specific topic, I try to take it. I’m most proud of my perseverance in this field. This field can be hard physically, mentally, and emotionally and there have been times when I wondered if this was for me, or if I should be pursuing something else.

Support, opportunities, and exploring various avenues in the field have invigorated me to push on and be able to start a business. I’m not sure what sets me apart from others because I see the veterinary field as a community where everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses that help progress veterinary medicine as a whole. I don’t see anything that sets me apart from others. I see that any knowledge and skills that I carry set me closer to my veterinary community.
