Today we’d like to introduce you to Raju Mahajan.
Hi Raju, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
“The opposite of poverty is not wealth; the opposite of poverty is justice.” — Bryan Stevenson.
I came to the United States from Bangladesh knowing that my ability to stay, contribute, and build a life would depend less on ambition than on access to a system I did not yet fully understand. Immigration, I learned quickly, was not simply a matter of merit or hard work. It was a maze of rules, interpretations, and timelines where the absence of clarity could quietly undo years of effort. That early confrontation with uncertainty is the same dream I now help others protect and make real.
2014 was the year these uncertainties became personal. I placed my own future to acquire Green Card through the EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) process. This experience was a revelation. I realized that for many immigrants, whether they are scientists, artists, or entrepreneurs, the legal process can feel like a cold, insurmountable wall. I saw a desperate need for a law firm that didn’t just provide ‘legal services’ but offered genuine empathy and a partnership based on lived experience.
With that understanding, I chose to formalize what experience had already taught me. With my Master’s from West Virginia State University and Juris Doctor (JD) from LMU Duncan School of Law, I founded Raju Law to close the gap I lived through firsthand. My mission was simple: to make high-level immigration expertise accessible, affordable, and transparent.
Today, we have branches in Washington, D.C., Georgia, New York, and California in the USA, as well as international offices in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Dubai, UAE. We are actively working to branch out to Portugal and other European and South American countries as well. What started as a focused practice has slowly grown into a global, technology-driven firm, allowing us the opportunity to serve clients from all over the world.
Even as the firm has grown, the work itself has remained personal. I continue to draw on my own immigration journey when guiding clients through theirs. Whether the matter involves an EB-1 petition for a researcher, an investment visa for an entrepreneur, or helping a family remain together in the United States, the underlying concern is always the same. Immigration is about people trying to build stability, dignity, and a future they can stand on. My role is to make that process clearer, more humane, and worthy of the trust it demands.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. Like many of the clients I represent, my path was paved with the unique hurdles that come with being an immigrant in a new country.
One of the primary challenges was navigating the sheer complexity of the U.S. legal system as a student. Before I was an attorney, I was a student trying to understand my own future. Facing the technicalities of the visa process firsthand was a trial by fire, but it gave me a level of empathy that you simply cannot learn in a textbook.
Another significant obstacle was starting a law firm from the ground up without a pre-existing local network. As an immigrant entrepreneur, I had to build credibility and trust within the legal community and among potential clients who were often skeptical of the ‘broken’ and expensive nature of immigration law.
Additionally, a constant challenge we face is bridging cultural and language barriers. We represent a global clientele from all over the world, and ensuring that our legal strategies translate across different cultural expectations is a daily mission.
Finally, the most rewarding yet challenging aspect of our journey has been our steadfast commitment to accessibility. In an industry where high-level legal representation for complex categories like EB-1, NIW, or EB-5 can often be prohibitively expensive, we have worked tirelessly to redefine the standard. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and creating highly efficient internal systems, we bridged the gap between elite legal work and affordability. We believe that the ‘best’ legal outcome should not be a luxury reserved for a few, it should be a justice deserving of all Every day, we strive to provide exemplary service to each and every client, refusing to let a ‘broken system’ or financial barriers stop talented individuals and investors from securing their futures in the land of their dreams.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Raju Law, we specialize in U.S. immigration and investment matters, specifically guiding clients toward achieving their Green Card dreams through deeply personalized legal strategies. We are currently one of the fastest-growing law firms in the country, and we distinguish ourselves by moving away from the generic boilerplate templates and curating to each individual needs, resulting in effectively presenting our client’s unique story and background with the focus it deserves.

Beyond the data and the tech, what we are most proud of is our philosophy of prioritizing people over profit. Our team consists of attorneys, clerks and managers coming from diverse backgrounds. With many having navigated the complex immigrant journey ourselves, we deeply empathize with the financial and emotional constraints that undeniably becomes a core part of this journey.
Thus, our mission at Raju Law is not just to see cases, but to see lives, families, and futures. Ourshared experience drives us to offer affordable pricing and maintain a transparent relationship with every individual we serve. At Raju Law, our clients don’t just hire an attorney; they gain a dedicated partner who has walked in their shoes and is fully committed to their pursuit of the American Dream.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Books: I am a firm believer that leadership requires constant learning. One of my favorite books is ‘Start with Why’ by Simon Sinek. It deeply resonates with my journey because I didn’t just start a law firm to practice law; I started it to empower immigrants. Understanding the ‘Why’ behind Raju Law, which is our commitment to the American Dream, is what keeps us motivated. I also highly value ‘The Lean Startup’ by Eric Ries, as its principles of efficiency and innovation have guided how we use technology to make legal services more affordable.
Apps: On the professional side, Westlaw and LexisNexis are indispensable for our rigorous legal research. On a daily operational level, I rely heavily on our proprietary case management software. It is the ‘heart’ of our firm, allowing us to maintain transparent, real-time communication with our global clients across different time zones. On a personal note, I find LinkedIn to be a powerful tool for staying connected with the global professional community and sharing insights on the ever-changing landscape of U.S. immigration.
Podcasts: I enjoy podcasts that explore the intersection of technology and humanity. ‘How I Built This’ with Guy Raz is a constant source of inspiration, as it features the stories of entrepreneurs who turned simple ideas into movements. I also listen to various American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) updates to stay at the cutting edge of policy changes, ensuring our clients always have the most current advice.
