Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Harry.
Hi Nina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was first introduced to Aesthetics in 2010 when I was receiving laser hair removal. I quickly saw the benefits and ease that came with not having to shave. This sparked my interest in sharing the time-saving benefits of laser with my friends which soon grew into me working in the industry. After immersing myself in aesthetics and studying different lasers and the science behind how lasers worked, I became fascinated with the life-changing results my patients were experiencing.
These patients were everyday people just like me who shared a common goal of wanting to feel more confident in our skin while saving time that we just didn’t have to devote to ourselves anymore because we were busy working or raising our families. I resonated with so many busy moms who didn’t have the time to shave or didn’t have time to put on makeup to cover acne scars, wrinkles, and blemishes just so they could carry on with their busy day. When you have kids, you don’t have time for yourself most days so not having to shave when my kids needed to go to the pool in the summer was so helpful. I felt like I had to share this gift with other busy parents out there!
I also was burned with a laser when I first started receiving services so I made it a priority for me to educate myself on laser safety in skin of color. I have since begun mentoring and training other providers to help fill the void in safe aesthetic treatments for skin of color.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my practice was not a smooth road. I learned a lot of lessons the hard way. I was so young and naive and believed whatever anyone told me. From bad business partnerships to bad deals with reps selling devices, it was a learning curve.
I made a lot of bad financial decisions in the beginning but those experiences have molded me into the businesswoman I am today which I am grateful for because it also allows me the opportunity to help other business owners looking to get into the industry. I always tell potential business owners that I made so many mistakes along the way so that you don’t have to.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Comprehensive Laser and Aesthetics?
We are an Aesthetic Practice that specializes in Laser Treatments and Injectables. What sets us apart from other practices is that we have years of experience and specialize in treating skin of color safely. We are most proud of being a Minority Woman Owned Business with a diverse staff that values continuing education to make sure that we are up to date with the latest safety protocols.

What’s next?
Our plans for the future are to continue to grow our Aesthetic Practice and become more accessible to patients everywhere in the DC/MD/VA area.
We are currently building our new state-of-the-art facility which should be completed in 2024. Our new space will allow us to accommodate more patients but we are most excited about being able to host more training opportunities for aesthetic providers looking to learn as well!
For the past two years, I began mentoring and training other aesthetic providers with a focus on procedures that are safe for skin of color.
