Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Herum.
Hi Morgan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My professional journey began with movement and embodiment. I have been teaching yoga since 2014, spending countless hours observing both myself and my clients through the seasons and years. Again and again, I saw the same pattern emerge: many people, including myself, genuinely wanted to change something—whether improving health, habits, or performance—but something beneath conscious awareness seemed to block progress. It became clear to me that the subconscious mind holds the key to why goals remained just out of reach, even when motivation and effort were present.
One experience in particular crystallized this realization. A yoga student I worked with regularly for years struggled profoundly with sleep, living in a constant state of exhaustion and depleted motivation. After completing eight hypnotherapy sessions with me, her life changed in tangible ways. She began going to bed earlier and waking earlier, which allowed her to take morning walks with friends, enjoy meaningful time with her family before they set out for the day. Witnessing such a transformation reaffirmed my belief in the power of subconscious work to create lasting, practical change.
My practice of Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, further bridged the gap between yoga and hypnotherapy. Yoga Nidra, much like hypnosis, is a practice of deep relaxation and healing that works directly with the subconscious mind. Over the years, I observed how this state supported my personal and professional achievement of goals. It reinforced my understanding that transformation doesn’t come from force, but from accessing deeper layers of awareness.
Becoming a Certified Medical Support Clinical Hypnotherapist through the International Board of Hypnotherapy allowed me to expand my ability to. support others to achieve the levels of healing and transformation within themselves in a clinical setting. Working with customized hypnotherapy protocols one-on-one with clients over a series of multiple sessions empowers them to achieve lasting results in weight management, quitting smoking, improving sleep, reducing stress, accelerate healing, overcoming habits, performance enhancement, or improving health outcomes.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Playing the roles of both entrepreneur and Certified Medical Support Clinical Hypnotherapist is not always smooth sailing. Hypnotherapy is the easy part that I am passionate about- I love working one-on-one with clients and seeing them heal and move on to live their best lives. Owning my own business comes with challenges, including navigating the ever-changing environment of marketing online, and the tedious task of bookkeeping. There is a lot of work an entrepreneur does outside of providing the service that the client receives.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Morgan Herum Hypnotherapy?
My work is grounded in an adaptive, client-centered, and deeply collaborative approach to transformation and healing through the power of the mind. As a Fellow of the International Board of Hypnotherapy and an alumna of the Hypnotherapy Academy of America—North America’s premier state-licensed hypnotherapy training institute—I practice Integral Hypnotherapy®, a methodology that is both evidence-based and highly individualized. What drew me to this approach is its flexibility and depth; it honors the uniqueness of each client while remaining rooted in rigorous scientific validation, including results from a four-year, $3 million NIH-funded study that demonstrated superior outcomes compared to other therapeutic modalities.
Integral Hypnotherapy® emphasizes collaboration, and I view each client as a co-therapist in their own process. Whether working online or in-person, my role is to actively listen, identify patterns and goals, and translate a client’s own language into precise, empowering instructions for their unique subconscious mind. This facilitates change organically, sustainably, and in alignment with the individual’s lived experience rather than imposed from the outside.
My background as a yoga and meditation instructor since 2014 strongly informs how I work. I have taught countless classes, workshops, and multiple 200-hour yoga teacher trainings, which has shaped my ability to educate clearly while holding space with compassion and presence. Yoga, meditation, and hypnosis all share a common thread: they access states of focused awareness where meaningful change becomes possible. Hypnosis, for me, is a natural evolution of this work—a way to refine and customize subconscious practices with greater clinical precision.
Ultimately, I offer a holistic and well-rounded approach that integrates science, intuition, and education. I believe that when people understand how their mind works and are given the tools to harness it’s potential, they reclaim a sense of agency and possibility. My greatest passion is guiding clients to that realization and supporting them as they create lasting, meaningful change.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
From an early age, I was deeply fascinated by the mind and the vast, often untapped potential of the mind. I explored practices like dream analysis, lucid dreaming, and manifestation from a young age. I noticed patterns that felt more than coincidental—snow days that reliably fell on my birthday after visualizing a snow day on my birthday eve, strings of green lights when I was running late, and an uncanny ability to arrive exactly on time even after leaving home later than planned, or visualizing attracting a new client and then receiving an inquiry about my services later that week. These experiences shaped my understanding that the mind, when aligned, has a powerful influence on reality.
