Community Highlights: Meet MJ Roark of KidsCare Home Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to MJ Roark.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are KidsCare Home Health. We started in Texas in 2003 as an in-home provider of Speech, Occupational, Physical and Feeding Therapy. We expanded into Maryland in 2022 and in to Northern Virginia in 2023 and in to DC in 2025.

We treat patients from birth up to age 18. We accept both Medicaid and Commercial Insurance.

Our mission is simple C.A.R.E. Commitment, Accountability, Results, Ethics. Our founder Dr. Cortney Baker believes that the best setting for a child’s best progression is their natural environment-their home.

We strive to give the best possible care to our patients and their families. We have a “Happy Family” rate of 99% showing that we are accomplishing that mission!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Success is never a smooth road! 23 years has brought us from a small start up to one of the largest Pediatric home health agencies in the country! We have grown from Texas to additional states including Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, DC, and South Carolina.

The biggest challenge is getting the word out to the families about our services! We regularly visit pediatric clinics, hospitals, health fairs and other community events.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Dr. Cortney Baker and her husband Jason Baker, along with brother-in-law Eric Baker have built from the ground up a family legacy of serving others! This company started with 1 employee and a dream of treating children with developmental delays to help them to thrive and grow! Many changes have happened along the way of making this dream a reality but our core mission of C.A.R.E Commitment, Accountability. Results. Ethics has never wavered.

We are most proud of our patients’ success stories! We have treated thousands of children over the years and helped to set them on a path of healing and health!

What sets us apart is that we our Therapists come and treat in the child’s home! Barriers of transportation, time, and patient mobility have been overcome with this model. Children thrive in their natural environment.

We provide services of Speech, Occupational, Physical and Feeding Therapy in all states mentioned, and are proud to have been serving patients in Maryland since 2022.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We have dedicated Community Relations Representatives in every market we serve. These individuals visit pediatric clinics, hospitals, behavioral therapy centers and community events to meet families that may be needing our services. Our main goal is of education, both for pediatric providers and for families.

Our V.P. of Community Relations is Jeanette Reinert, who guides us through our journey of serving families.

Supporting our mission at KidsCare is simply to spread the word about our services to families / patients that can benefit from therapy to overcome development delays in many forms.
