Community Highlights: Meet Laeticia Ahoua of Ebene Pilates

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laeticia Ahoua.

Hi Laeticia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After spending 10 years working in tech, an unexpected burnout made me realized that there was more to life than the constant hustle and bustle.
I decided to prioritize my mental and physical health and make a life-changing commitment—to step away from unhealthy wellness practices and embrace things that simply made me feel good.

I left the corporate world and enrolled in a Pilates certification program. Soon after I started, I realized the crucial lack of inclusivity and accessibility of the industry and immediately started to think about ways to make a difference. I was longing for a space where I could find classes filled with like-minded individuals and build a true sense of community. A space where your body was seen and accepted.

What started as a dream soon escalated into a purpose-led mission. Ébène Pilates was born—a space designed to welcome, uplift, and empower all bodies through Pilates.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a start up, I was faced with a lot of disappointing realities. Many financial institutions did not want to take on the risk of investing in a Pilates studio despite trending numbers showing that the Pilates and yoga industries were forecasted to grow at a rate of 11.4% as far out as 2028 and reach $350-417 billion by 2033. I was met with so many No’s but this didn’t deter me from moving forward with my dream.

I spent so much time analyzing the current market and was convinced that not only people now recognized the benefits of Pilates, but there was also a clear demand for boutique studios providing more intentional/inclusive classes and community-focused fitness experiences. I decided to go all in by self-funding the entire project with the help of family members.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ebene Pilates?
