Community Highlights: Meet Kayla Marie of Miracle’s

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Marie.

Hi Kayla, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Four years ago, it was all a dream in my notebook which is now my reality. Having my own fashion line and being a supermodel was always a dream of mine since I 13th, and as I got older I felt I had to give up on most of my dreams because I am a mom. I was working a 9-5 at Cigna as a Pharmacy Tech for six years, not living just working. The job was OK but it wasn’t my passion and I often found myself getting bored with it. One day I was searching online for some clothes with my daughter who was nine at the time, and everything was so overpriced that I become frustration, and I just remember my daughter looked at me and said “Why don’t we start our own store and sell nice clothes for women like you (working moms) that can afford it?!” It amazed me that she thought of that on her own, but it sparked something in me and that’s how it all began. When it came down to the name, it was easy for me so I chose to name it after my daughter Miracle! This journey has been a rough one and we are a work in progress, but I will never give up on my dreams.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish it was a smooth road lol, but that’s not reality, nothing in life is smooth. Running any type of business is extremely hard, I have come across a lot of obstacles because I just jumped right into creating a business before I even learned how to run a business lol I was so excited that I jumped the gun. I thought it would be easy due to the fact that I know a lot of people and I have a great eye for fashion, but boy was I wrong. From building my website to finding the right products and content is a struggle in itself, I don’t have a team. It is literally just Miracle and I lol it can be pretty overwhelming but I pray a lot. I struggled with marketing and getting my products seen by the right people and knowing the ends and out of what it really takes to run a successful business. We are based online so marketing just online wasn’t the way to go, I had to get out and network. Even though it’s a struggle, I still get a lot of fulfillment from it and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Each year I have learned something new, so for me my struggles have built our character! I’m proud to say that we are now making a profit since the pandemic and our clientele has grown. Giving up isn’t an option!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
First thing I say is put God first, do as much research you possibly can, learn your craft, and create a winning business plan! Don’t take no shortcuts, do everything the right way, get out and network and never be afraid to chase your dreams. It will be a hard road and nothing happens overnight so stay focus and if you want your business to grow, you have to work hard! Get plenty of rest and get ready to lose some friends because everyone is not going to understand your vision!! Build a team of like-minded people like you, also you have to have a passion for it or it won’t last. I wish I had someone to point me in the right direction and show me what it was really took to run a business. Stay true to who you are, it’s OK to fall just don’t stay down too long and make sure you get back up swinging.
