Hi Jheen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Susosu Water started with a simple question – Why has something as essential as water become so dry (Haha)?
As we looked around the market, we noticed that many brands were built around clever marketing rather than meaningful innovation! On one end were purified tap waters packaged as “premium products”. On the other were naturally sourced waters that offered purity but little in the way of added functionality. We felt there was an opportunity to create something that truly delivered on what today’s wellness-conscious consumer is looking for.
We believed water should do more than hydrate, it should support how people live, perform, and feel every day. That belief became the foundation of Susosu Water!
From the beginning, our goal wasn’t just to launch another beverage brand, but wanted to create a premium hydration experience that combined naturally sourced mineral water with functional benefits packaged in a unique aluminum spouted pouch designed for modern life. Every decision (from the water source to the packaging) was made with intention.
Building Susosu has been a journey of persistence, learning, and constant refinement. What started as an idea has grown into a brand carried in hundreds of retail locations across the East Coast and a top-selling water brand on Amazon!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely NOT! A smooth road in business means you’re not setting the bar high enough. It means there’s no growth being done. We’ve encountered so many different struggles along the way but one that stands out to me was when we lost our Amazon store back in 2021 (right when we quit our full-time jobs). At the time, Amazon was about 98% of our total revenue and for us, losing that meant we had to figure out how we were going to survive and pivot the business which led us to investing time & focus into the wholesale side of our business. We ended up getting our Amazon store back after 8 months but the greatest blessing out of the struggle was coming back alive stronger than ever and building a more robust business model where we had an omni-channel strategy that both contribute to the success today.
