Community Highlights: Meet Delly of Bread Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Delly.

Hi Delly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My background is in program and project management across international development, policy, sustainability, and business. However, on a personal level, I’ve always been very creative and interested in music, songwriting, and art, honestly anything that helps me stay connected to my inner child.
All of these experiences have positioned me to support small business owners in the creative and beauty industries in the DMV, which I’ve done as a business management and operations consultant.
Through that work, I gained both strong business insight and a daily dose of inspiration. I worked closely with women who were relentlessly pursuing their dreams, and that was incredibly motivating. As inspired as I was, I also started to notice common gaps, especially among founders who hadn’t had the opportunity to work within a business before starting their own.
That’s when I realized I had a unique perspective. I had both hands-on experience working inside organizations and direct experience supporting entrepreneurs, which allowed me to see both sides of how businesses operate.
That ultimately put me in the mindset of, “Everything I’ve done up to this point has been preparing me for what’s next.” It’s funny how God works, but that realization is what led me to start my own journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Ha! Every day is something new. The struggles along the way can feel almost insurmountable. I think as a business owner, depending on your product or service, you have to decide one of two paths. Either you start small and scale gradually, knowing that if your business grows quickly you’ll need to constantly play catch-up, trying not to lose customers while building systems in real time. Or you start medium/ large, knowing it’s a 50/50 chance: you might launch right where demand meets you, or you may have to climb one of the bigger mountains of your life just to reach profitability, oftentimes with your back against the wall. That has definitely been my struggle along the way: starting a business with initial overhead that sits between medium and large scale. It’s hard, but my faith and community really push me through. I also started a small monthly meetup group called Grounds for Growth, where I invite small business owners to Bread Studios for coffee. We talk about our struggles, share experiences, and try to support and encourage each other. This journey can get very lonely without community, so I started this meetup because I needed the encouragement, and I knew other people did too.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Bread Studios is a content, event, and creative space in the DMV designed for entrepreneurs, vibe curators, creatives, and those simply looking for a beautiful space to host. We host a range of experiences, including business events, workshops, content creation days, and general gatherings with loved ones.

At its core, Bread Studios is built to be more than just a studio; it’s an intentional environment where people can think, create, and grow without feeling rushed, overlooked, or unsupported. Everything is designed with the user experience in mind, from the layout to the way bookings are hosted.

What sets Bread Studios apart is its size, location, and overall feel. It is uniquely positioned in Laurel, right off I-95, making it easily accessible from multiple DMV areas and a strong central meeting point. The size is also intentional; it’s ideal for intimate gatherings, so there isn’t pressure to “fill a large venue,” but it’s not so small that people feel cramped or restricted.

The design is also distinct in the DMV market. It features a modern, sleek aesthetic with arched walls and neutral furniture, creating an elevated environment where people feel instantly transported and inspired when they walk in.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a full-fledged theater kid, always on a quest, finding beauty in the mundane, dramatic, full of life, and constantly creating. I wanted to do everything and believed I would.

I danced, sang, baked, made earrings, designed pottery and clothing, and even created my own lip glosses. At around ten years old, I was basically running every “company” you could think of, always hustling, lol. I think that’s why I wanted to keep Bread Studios’ open floor plan, so I would have the space to bring every event idea I could think of to life.
