Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Tran.
Hi Brandon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Brandon Tran I am an Atlanta native who currently resides in DC. Prior to moving to the DMV, I spent several years traveling back and forth to Vietnam with a charitable organization where I built and taught others to build prosthetic devices for amputees. That experience inspired me to begin working at the Shepherd Center, a top tier hospital specializing in treatment, research, and rehabilitation for people with complex neurological conditions, brain and spinal cord injuries, and amputations. While I greatly evolved as a clinician over the past six years as a clinician, I knew I ultimately wanted to be able to expand my reach. , I run my own chiropractic office in Alexandria, where I work with clients from all different backgrounds, athletic abilities, and capabilities. My goal is help my patients move better, get stronger, and prevent injuries long-term.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My path to the point has definitely not been easy or smooth. Initially, I graduated from college with the intention of becoming a physical therapist. While I worked extremely hard to ensure that I was a highly competitive and qualified candidate, it did not work out in my favor. Mentally, it took an extreme toll on my confidence because I had always believed that I had the passion and the ability to become a great clinician.
I channeled that passion into my charitable endeavors in prosthetic building in Vietnam and a physical therapy aid job at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. While it was not my initial plan, I could at least be tangentially related to the physical medicine and rehabilitative field. Ultimately, I still believed I was capable of more. Inspired by watching my peers achieve their goals and knowing that I wanted to be able to take care of my parents who had given so much to me, I decided to try applying to PT programs again. This time it worked out and I got accepted to a program in Melbourne, Australia.
In January 2020, I traveled halfway around the world to live out my dream. Just a few short months later, though, that dream would come to startling halt…again. The COVID pandemic moved my classes online and for 8 months I was trapped in a studio apartment in a foreign country where my human interaction was extremely limited. When it became apparent that the lockdowns were going to be extended, I knew I had to get home to my friends and family. That decision would trigger a domino effect that would end in being refused re-entry into Australia and ultimately the end of my time as a PT student.
Since I had a taste of what it would be like to live out my dream, I knew I could not totally give up. Being a physical therapist may not have been in the cards for me, but I knew I could find another way forward. In my research, I found that a lot of the clinicians I admired were chiropractors with a heavy focus on strength and conditioning and performance. I applied to chiropractic programs on a whim and was ultimately accepted before I even knew what a chiropractor’s full scope of practice was.
Being a chiropractor has given me the ability to design my own practice model, help hundreds of patients from general population facing spinal surgery to professional athletes, and live out my dream as an expert clinician and business owner. For many years, I worked extremely hard, was resilient against adversity, never gave up, and now I own and operate a very successful chiropractic office, all before the age of 30.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Envision Sports Rehab is a chiropractic clinic that specializes in manual therapy, dry needling and soft tissue mobilization, chiropractic care, and sports performance. Envision Sports Rehab is unique because we are not looking to create lifetime patients out of our patients. We believe that if we get to the root cause of the injury and help our patients move better, then they will recover faster without becoming dependent on our care. My proudest moments as the owner come in educating our patients from all different backgrounds and athletic abilities that their bodies are stronger and more capable than they ever thought possible. No patient in my office is ever viewed as fragile. Our patients know the importance of moving well and staying active in order to be healthy and injury-free as long as possible.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
