Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Edoro.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, I’m Valerie Edoro, simply put I’m a Food Connoisseur – that’s my story. My creative journey began a few years ago when I self-taught myself baking as a hobby and began making cakes from scratch for friends and loved ones. Later started developing fun recipes. These were sided passions that I truly enjoyed. The happiness and praise I received every time someone tasted one of my cakes or my meals were worth everything to me. It was all fun also taking photos of my creations and telling the stories behind each meal, especially the Nigerian delicacies.
Over time, I decided to share my passion for food with the world on social media. I began creating lifestyle, baking, and cooking content, as well as showcasing & exploring the food scene in the DMV area. People loved it! As I continued to grow, I embraced uncertainty and became more open to trying new things. I believe that my ability to adapt to change, constantly grow, and embrace my different passions is what sets me apart.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, being a content creator can be a rollercoaster ride because there isn’t really a manual or playbook to follow. I just dove in and I’m figuring things out as I go along. It takes time, effort, and a whole lot of trial and error to discover what works for you. I keep being flexible to adapt to different changes, rules, and algorithms on social media platforms. But even with all the challenges, I love the connections I’ve made with my followers.
It’s amazing to know that my content has resonated with people and helped them in some way. Of course, there are moments when I feel like an imposter but overall, I enjoy sharing my experiences and ideas with my audience. I just love when someone sends me a message to say they tried a certain recipe or visited a certain restaurant because of one of my videos. I like to plan my content ahead and use apps and tools to make sure I put out quality content across the platforms.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a digital creator who loves all things Food & Lifestyle.
I’m always on the hunt for the best food spots in my area, and I share well-curated experiences from fancy restaurants to street food & hidden gems. I also share home-cooked recipes, baking tips, travel, and hotel escapades and I love to share them with my followers. You can find me on Instagram @engr_valerie and Tiktok @valerieexplorespage.
I am most proud of being able to tell a story through food pictures and videos. It’s amazing how you can capture a moment and share it with people all over the world. Sure, it’s not always easy, and there are days when I struggle with self-doubt, I fall back on my family and my Catholic faith, but at the end of the day, I’m doing what I love and that’s what matters most.
I’m always up for a new challenge, and I’m constantly learning and growing as a creator. Editing my videos, taking photos, and exploring new places are all part of my creative journey, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the food scene, there’s so much diversity to explore; from Mexican to Korean to Italian and also Nigerian food.
