Today we’d like to introduce you to Trey Carswell
Trey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a proud graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where I earned my B.A. in Political Science and Economics in 2011, followed by an M.A. in International Relations and Public Administration and Policy in 2013. Although my academic journey was rooted in the political realm, my true passion for acting and filmmaking ultimately led me to the vibrant world of production.
The inspiration behind my company—and indeed, everything I pursue—comes from my daughters. They are my driving force, providing me with the energy and motivation to push through even the toughest moments. Their joy makes every success feel even more rewarding. My unwavering commitment to my daughters is the guiding principle that fuels my company’s mission.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In my industry, everyone is striving to be the best, and competition is fierce—particularly for roles that attract over 300 auditionees at a time. I’m always putting myself out there, working to demonstrate to directors and producers why I’m the ideal choice for a role. Rejection is a common experience; in fact, you often hear ‘no’ far more frequently than ‘yes.’ This can take a toll on your confidence, and the journey of being an actor can be incredibly challenging at times. However, my passion for this craft drives me to keep pushing forward. I refuse to let setbacks deter me; instead, I persistently knock on every door. It’s this unwavering perseverance that ultimately leads me to those coveted ‘yes’ moments.

At Moon’k Films Devoted, we are an assembly
of ardent filmmakers driven by a singular
mission: to elevate the essence of the storyteller
through an array of cinematic forms. Our
repertoire spans featured films, independent
creations, succinct yet impactful short films,
immersive music videos, thought-provoking
documentaries, insightful interviews, and
engaging events, among other expressions.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Be consistent, avoid making excuses, and always prioritize your goals. Most importantly remember to keep GOD first.
