Check Out Tasia Mitropoulos’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasia Mitropoulos.

Hi Tasia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t even know a ‘makeup artist’ was a career and the second I found out it was an actual job, my journey began. Like any artist, I’ve always been less about academics and more about art and expressing myself through different types of medium. I was in college and working part time at Bare Minerals where I started doing makeup on other people. I began school for esthetics shortly there after and then got my dream job, at the time, at MAC cosmetics. I worked a few other retail jobs until going fully self employed in 2018. Ever since then I’ve been hustling; connecting with people, doing test shoots, styled shoots and gaining experience. I moved to NYC last year to follow this thirst of an aspiration and do bigger things. I needed a challenge and I wanted more. I did really cool things and met really cool people but ultimately decided to move my homebase back to my beloved city of Baltimore. My entire adult life makeup has been my everything; blood, sweat, tears, I’ve sacrificed, been pushed to my limit, learned difficult lessons, had sleepless nights, & have given every ounce of my being for this dream. It has been the most fulfilling, rewarding, deeply emotional journey of all.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been the bumpiest road. High highs and low lows. I’ve had to learn about people most of all. How to connect, when to speak up, when to shut up. I’ve had to create boundaries and advocate for myself. When you’re dealing with people, you’re bound to meet unhappy people who will try their best to test you and I’ve been demeaned and spoken down to and have had to keep my composure in those moments. That’s probably been the most difficult challenges. It’s so much deeper than makeup, it’s life lessons.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a makeup artist. I work in bridal, beauty, editorial. My specialty I would say though, is beauty and editorial. I’m known for a very clean natural base makeup paired with a detailed, unique or graphic eye look. What sets me apart is me; my gift of talking to people, helping them feel comfortable in their own skin. I am most proud of the leap I took to go to nyc and learn everything I did in that time. That was the most challenging and rewarding experience.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is making people feel seen and heard. I think maybe I’ve struggled in my life to feel those things so I find myself seeking to be that for others.
