Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherill & Morgan Dingle.
Hi Sherill & Morgan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In the heart of a city that raised us, we planted the seeds of something special: a community-centered event business rooted in love, legacy, and liberation.
Raised by a mother who taught us how to make a dollar stretch and a grandmother who turned every family gathering into a celebration, we learned early on that those moments—big or small-deserved to be honored. Whether it was a block cookout, baby shower, or church anniversary, joy was sacred, and creating space for it was a form of service.
We started with nothing but a laptop, a few folding tables, combined talents, a flair for design, and a gift for logistics; we launched Coco & Caramel Luxury Events out of a simple desire to showcase our blended sisterhood. Our mission is simple: to create beautiful, intentional events for people and the community in which we grew up.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all—but every bump along the way has made the journey more meaningful.
We are juggling a lot—working full-time jobs and trying to build a business on evenings and weekends. Sometimes we barely sleep, setting up events late into the night and breaking them down at sunrise before clocking in elsewhere.
We also didn’t have investors or startup funds; we just had a lot of heart and hustle.
There were also emotional challenges. Being Black women in the events industry, primarily while serving a community often overlooked, came with its own set of barriers. We faced assumptions, were underestimated, and sometimes had to prove our value repeatedly just to be acknowledged.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We create soulful, culturally grounded events that celebrate life’s moments with intention, beauty, and a sense of community. We specialize in everything from milestone celebrations—such as baby showers, graduations, and weddings—to community events like block parties, healing spaces, and nonprofit galas. Every detail, from the playlist to the place settings, is carefully curated with cultural relevance.
We’re known for bringing warmth, authenticity, and creativity to everything we touch. Clients often tell us that our events “feel like home but elevated”—and that’s precisely the experience we aim to create. We infuse tradition, story, and heart into every gathering, making sure our clients feel seen, heard, and celebrated.
What sets us apart is that we’re not just event planners—we’re community builders. We prioritize working with Black-owned and local vendors. We mentor young people interested in the events industry. And we hold space for joy, especially in communities that are often overlooked or under-resourced.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The kind of heart-centered approach we’ve built has fostered trust, lasting relationships, and a reputation we’re proud of. It’s our anchor, our compass, and the foundation of our success.
