Check Out Sharmie Taylor’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharmie Taylor.

Hi Sharmie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been doing nails since 1994 in Michigan but I moved here to Baltimore Maryland at the end of 2019 and obtained my Maryland license to do nails. I began doing mobile services in the area, then I began working in a salon Feb 2020, building my clientele. The salon I was working in is no longer open or operating, but in October 2020, I was able to find a salon suite in Towson, Maryland, which I currently call home.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If I had to say there were any struggles, COVID-19 it was definitely one. Because just as I was beginning to gain momentum, we were all quarantined and that was scary because the exposure was limited, clients were scarce end it was impossible to build a new business with everything around me shut down, and being new to Maryland from another state as well as trying to grow and build/make my mark… It was hard to do during this time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a licensed manicurist/nail tech, but my clients referred to me as a nail artist. I am known for sculptured sets and unique artistry my nails stand out because I have a unique way with colors designs and embellishments.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
My guess would be the best way to support me would be through exposure and getting to know me as a nail tech I pride myself on educating my clients on the health and maintenance of their services, keeping them well-informed on the pros and cons of products with regard to health and safety. I’m a teacher at heart I love to share nail techniques And educate new and upcoming nail techs in our field because when I began doing nails back in the 90s, people weren’t sharing information or teaching you how to acquire certain skills and designs, so you had to figure it out on your own.
