Check Out Rockell Jackson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rockell Jackson.

Rockell Jackson

Rockell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out as a graphic designer with an entrepreneurial mindset. I was doing side jobs for friends and family until I realized how many people were asking for my help. Over the years of school and self education I later expanded my services to website development and design, and custom printing.

In 2015 I started offering my services to businesses and named the business RJ Management at the time. I was also, coordinating events while managing a music artist. I was and have always been managing a lot.

As I perfected my craft and expanded I eventually left the entertainment industry in 2018 and decided to only help businesses with branding and marketing.

In 2019, I rebranded the company to RJ Millennial Branding.

In 2024, with over 200 + clients we have been helping small and large businesses with branding and marketing services nationwide!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The main challenges we faced while expanding is hiring genuine staff and finding credible vendors when needed. There are a lot of new hires that may not care for the business at all and that will always affect customer service, quality and the clients overall experience. Vendors who are not as detail oriented are a huge hassle to deal with as well if you have to constantly remind them of the job, resend information, and fix their mistakes. Hiring is a very hard process and always have been for me. I only want genuine people around me and my businesses so we can provide great service and always keep out great reputation.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have been an overall artist my entire life. I am known currently as the owner of RJ Millennial Branding and the head graphic designer.

I started with drawing, painting, song writing, and making beats in my preteenager years.
In high school, I learned how to work a camera and became passionate in capturing art. I took a liking to editing photos and videos. After learning all of these skills I realized in college that my passion was for digital graphics. I loved creating a beautiful image out of nothing and explaining to people later how I did it. Around 2013 is when I really knew that is what I was good at and it was something I liked doing even without money being involved. I would take hours/days editing a corner of a flyer that no one would notice only because I noticed it and wanted it to be perfect. I have always been very proud and still am that with every project, I get better and so does the design!

I would say my drive, work ethic, and attention to detail sets me apart from a lot of other designers. Also, the fact that my company does not aim to put out any work that we wouldn’t accept for our own use. That is major to me when it comes to deliverables, to make sure we aren’t just sending out a job to be done with it, but that we know it is completed to satisfaction. Operating this way has been proven to work in our favor since almost every design we send out clients are happy with the first 2 mocks! Saving design time, wasted labor, and keeping a happy client all because we listened the first time.

Also, I am proud of the turnout I’ve been getting for my yearly company event! Each year I coordinate an event for artists, local businesses, our clients, and the public to come out network, shop and have fun! It’s been a great opportunity to finally meet some of our clients in person that we’ve helped over the years via email only! I provide free drinks, food, games, henna and caricature drawings. There is also live performances and vendors with a variety of products and services. After taking a break from COVID we have our 4th annual company event coming up! September 28, 2024 the Creators XPO 2024 will be at the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park, MD. I am excited to meet new business owners and artists this year and see everyone win!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I’m genuinely happy when helping others and offering leadership knowing that people are following me because they trust me and my knowledge. I love to educate people and be a source for many, I am happy that people look to me for answers.

Taking care of my house plants and seeing new life come about from my green thumb is what truly makes me happy. I also, enjoy going on trails, 5k runs, working out, playing sports and adventures outdoors. Seeing nothing turn into something has always made me happy in almost every aspect, plants, body goals, and my business.
