Riz tha Great is a DMV native, independent artist and entrepreneur, rapper, and producer. He thrives on the energy and hype of the crowd and delivers sick and sensational performances. Riz Tha Great was born In Providence Hospital Washington D.C., Music became his passion in his younger years with influence of the Go-Go bounce beat, you can feel the energy pouring out of him off stage. Riz use to be in group called “Swag Godz” in 2011 in to 2016 when decided to change his stage name from “RIZOWE” to “Riz Tha Great”.
Riz has opened Shows for artists such as Wale, Fat Trel, DMC (of Run DMC), Pusha -T, Pastor Troy, and More.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey has been a bumpy road as you chase your dreams reality checks happen, losing loved ones to unfortunate circumstances, trying feed your family and keep a roof over your head, Music is my therapy that keeps me sane! Save my life helps me not just inspire the people but also my Son! I’ve been threw it all not having nowhere to stay all way down to 0$ in my pocket, Nothing stop me from grinding and taking life by the horns and surviving any obstacles that appear on the path to success!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a father my most proudest moment is teaching my son about life and how to still maintain the creative spirit. As a musician sometimes you forget they have more ways to make money with your music, I have made my Merchandising Game to another level! Got the whole DC saying “Don’t Trip “ is such a feeling down to seeing them where it is everywhere which is a reminder to me and everyone “Don’t Trip, cause everything going be alright “
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Bringing my Creativity to life, bringing my vision and music to the people and receiving the love from that is a feeling unmatched, I’m truly a performer so you give me the mic, I’m going take you to another level, recently been playing with Legendary GO-GO band in DC UCB, If you know DC DMV Culture GOGO music is the heart and beat of the city, 25yr band that I grew up listening to has invited me to share the stage with them is a huge honor! Having the Team I have keeps me happy, Manager Shady, Photographer Team, Another dip, Flash Foto, My Dj “Dj Pae Me” my sponsors, Legacy DC, Looking Glass Lounge, Ameer Dyson, my son Isaiah, Gavin, Kevin FBDC, blessing that motivates me.
