Today we’d like to introduce you to Only1 Theory.

Hi Only1, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It’s been an incredible journey of overcoming perceived obstacles and turning pain into power. Although I created music my entire life, I started working in the industry about 10 years ago. I graduated from Sheffield Audio Institute as an audio engineer and started working with artists around Baltimore, DC, and Virginia (The DMV). I was able to work with major artists but I didn’t know anything about the music business. My early experience resulted in me learning a lot of lessons the hard way. I dealt with controlling greed-driven managers, my music was stolen and uploaded, and my entire circle of friends changed because my vision was larger than my environment. I sacrificed a lot of time and energy until I realized that I had everything I was searching for.

In 2018, things started to change. After dealing with a manager and A&R that tried to low-level blackball me for not signing with them, I met a music attorney and I became a student of the music game. I studied artists, labels, and executives from the earliest beginnings of the industry. I studied who created this industry and I learned everything I could about my craft as an artist and my business as a CEO. I didn’t have any money after that deal went sour so I drove for Lyft. Lyft sent out a mass email to their drivers and they wanted to hear our stories. So, I emailed them back and let them know my entire story lol. I felt like I just needed to get everything I was feeling off of my chest so I didn’t expect a response back. But they contacted me! A producer reached out and they paid for me to come to Brooklyn, NY to tell my story on air.

When I arrived, they surprised me and had Ashanti and some members of her team there to meet me. She is incredibly genuine and it was an amazing, life-impacting experience. In 2020, I had a spiritual experience that forever changed my life. I felt God, The Creator, Source Energy. I was always spiritual my entire. As a child I never felt alone, I always felt the Creator within me. At this moment I experienced God. It is a love, warmth, and beautiful colors beyond any words could ever describe. I received downloads, and a lot of information started manifesting within me. My production went to another level, my voice went to another level, my sound became my sound, and the way I move changed. I created WaveNB as my genre of music.

In late 2018, I created Rare Gold Music Group as a way to protect my music and also empower artists to be in control of their careers. Now, RGMG has expanded to include me (ONLY1 THEORY), Mikey Blu, and Christall (Real Housewives of Johannesburg TV Show). Maria Del Hoyo is our Executive Vice President and has expanded our label immensely. I’m currently working on new music.

No, lol, it’s not a smooth road. Challenges are a part of life and this is no exception. Challenges force us to get creative and test our determination.

I have a single that just released “Forgive Me” and another single “You Know My Name” will be available later this week! I’m producing records for a couple of artists. I have placements on TV shows and I’m releasing a new fashion collection “Smoke Sessions” in collaboration with STEM Fashion this Summer!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I created my own genre of music, Wavenb. In addition, I am a recording artist, producer, composer, writer, mix/master engineer, videographer, and editor. In my free time, I draw, create graphics and write in my journal.

I’m also a business owner. I’m the CEO of Rare Gold Music Group and I have other business ventures I’m working on.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Great question! I feel like moving in my purpose and doing things that feel good to my soul are most important to my success.
