Today we’d like to introduce you to No Signal
Hi No Signal, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been making music since I was 3 years old, playing the djembe (african drum) with 5th graders on stage. I played on stage at artscape with a house music band at 6. I actually used to play 6 different instruments. I hated practicing though so I took a break through high school. Once I graduated, I had to figure out what I wanted to do with my life while I was in college. Something told me music, but I did not want to play instruments, but I found producing shortly after. I found out about southside, metro boomin, tm88, and dykrazy. I found out that playing instruments can be cool. Once I figured that out, it was over. I got a computer, figured out how to get flstudio, and went right to youtube university to learn how to make beats. I met a lot of artists in college who loved my beats, and that gave me the practice and confidence to get these beats to bigger artists. This took me to meeting tyepacino. I met him through my cousin’s boyfriend. He was a producer too by the name of “talk2nobody”. He got me into contact with tyepacino, who is a producer and also an engineer. During this time he started engineering YG Teck. Tye helped me out with learning how to make my beats better a lot too. One day he told me to send him beats because Teck needed some beats, and that’s how the hit song “big dog” with roddy rackkz came about. Maybe a week later YG Teck made “Skydiving” on my beat and eventually put Lil Poppa on there as the feature. That’s when I knew this could be a career for me. After that, I have been his main producer ever since. I have had songs on each album or tape since 2021 when “Undeniable” came out.
My music relationship with Hunxho came through another producer named “Tip12lve”. He has been one of my closest friends in this game since I started. Hunxho’s old engineer, Mynds, he’s a dj doing tours now, told Tip12lve that Hunxho needed some beats one day, and Tip texted me about it. I sent a pack, and the song called “It’s gon be alright” came about which was on his mixtape “Xhosen” back in 2022. Then the song called “Freestyle” which hit 2 million views on YouTube came out as well. After that in 2023, I traveled to Atl and we locked in and made “Top Golf” and a bunch of other songs. I have been locked in with him ever since as well.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, not at all. Mentally the industry is draining. I had to learn not to compare myself to other ppl that are doing more than me, and focus on my own race. This industry costs a lot of money. I am glad I became a teacher, so I can support myself and my music until I can make a living off of music. It is okay to work a 9 to 5 to support yourself and your dreams.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a music producer, they know me for my hard hitting and different drum bounce. I am most proud of my mixtape that is coming out with YG Teck, it is going to be a joint mixtape. What sets me apart is my personality, I put my all into other ppls projects. My vision for what I want in each beat or song. It is very specific. I can bring to life what I want and what the artist wants.
