Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Townsend.
Hi Logan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My nursing career began in the ICU at Johns Hopkins, where I started with plans of becoming a CRNA. While I loved caring for patients and found bedside nursing incredibly rewarding, I realized I was craving something more—more connection, creativity, and the opportunity to help people feel their best.
I still work in the ICU today, and I’m incredibly grateful for the foundation it has given me as a nurse. But my path eventually led me to wellness, where I discovered how much I loved building relationships with clients and helping them feel confident inside and out. Starting with IV therapy, I found a side of healthcare that felt especially personal and fulfilling, which ultimately opened the door to aesthetics.
I’m incredibly grateful to Kayla, the owner of RBF Aesthetics, for taking me under her wing and teaching me aesthetic medicine. She gave me the opportunity to grow in a field that has become such a meaningful part of my life.
Today, I feel lucky to have the best of both worlds. I get to continue growing as a nurse in the ICU while pursuing my passion for aesthetics and wellness. I love making people feel good, creating genuine connections, and helping clients feel like the best version of themselves.
And honestly, the best part? It rarely feels like work. It feels like something I’m genuinely passionate about—and I feel incredibly lucky to call it my career.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Working in the hospital comes with its own challenges—the ICU is an incredibly labor-intensive job, both physically and emotionally, and there are days that can be demanding in ways you don’t always expect.
What I didn’t anticipate were the challenges that would come with aesthetics. Aesthetic medicine is such a different world. Things are constantly evolving, so there is always more to learn, and continuing your education is a huge part of staying successful. On top of the clinical side, there is also a business side—marketing, building your clientele, creating a brand, and learning how to put yourself out there in a competitive business.
I’ve realized that succeeding in aesthetics requires a different kind of drive than what I’ve needed in the ICU. In the hospital, my focus is primarily on my patients and their immediate needs. In aesthetics, I’m also building something of my own, and that comes with a completely different set of challenges.
It can be tough, but those challenges have pushed me to grow in ways I never expected. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue learning, evolving, and building a career that I’m genuinely passionate about.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is a combination of everything I’ve grown to love about nursing. I practice as an aesthetic and wellness nurse at RBF (Really Beautiful Faces) Med Spa, with locations in Millersville and Bel Air, Maryland. I specialize in injectables, including neuromodulators and filler, while also serving as an IV specialist, focusing on IV therapy, wellness shots, and overall wellness.
I’m known for making clients feel comfortable and informed throughout their experience. I want every person to understand what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and what they can realistically expect from their treatment. I believe education is a huge part of creating trust and helping clients feel confident in their decisions.
I’m especially passionate about subtle, natural-looking aesthetic results that complement someone’s features rather than change who they are. My ICU background has also shaped the way I practice, teaching me to be detail-oriented, safety-focused, and calm under pressure.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients and the trust they place in me. I’m constantly learning and evolving because aesthetic medicine and wellness are always changing, and I genuinely enjoy continuing to grow in my craft.
I think that combination—my clinical background, my focus on education and comfort, and my passion for wellness and aesthetics—is what sets me apart.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
i’ve always been a little bit of a go-getter—and definitely a perfectionist. I was the kid who was always doing something. I played multiple sports, talked probably way more than I should have, and was constantly asking questions. I definitely wasn’t the quiet one in the room. I’ve always been curious, outspoken, and independent, and I think I carried myself a little older than I actually was.
I grew up at the beach, and I think that has shaped me more than I realize. Some of my favorite memories are just being outside, on the water, and surrounded by the people I love. I’m very close with my family—especially my parents and my sister—and my friends have always been a huge part of my life too. I’ve always been someone who values those relationships and really invests in the people I care about.
My grandmother has also had a big influence on me. She was nurse, and I grew up looking up to her and hearing about her career. I think she planted that first little seed in me that healthcare might be where I belonged, even though I had no idea at the time what that would eventually look like.
I was also a hard worker from a very young age. Growing up at the beach definitely came with a fun, carefree side, but I also started working young and developed a pretty serious work ethic. I’ve always liked having something to work toward, and honestly, I’m still a little bit of a workaholic today.
When I look back, I can see that I’ve always had this natural curiosity about medicine and people. I just didn’t know where it would take me. It’s kind of funny to think that the talkative, competitive, slightly perfectionistic girl who grew up at the beach would eventually find herself in nursing, wellness, and aesthetics—but somehow, it all makes perfect sense.
