Check Out Latisha Roberson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latisha Roberson.

Hi Latisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a first-generation college student at Towson University, I didn’t believe I had the resources that other people had. Let me rephrase it; I didn’t know how to leverage resources. This continued into the early stages of my career journey, starting on Capitol Hill. I noticed even more than women, women of color, needed guidance, and support. I started my business— Lead with Latisha™— two years ago to help women like me. Women like me when I began my journey as a new college graduate with my first “real job” to the woman I am today, an Intrapreneur and an Entrepreneur. With almost 20 years of experience, I teach women how to elevate their confidence and chart a career path aligned with their vision.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth road?! Not. I didn’t realize this road existed until one day, a friend said to me, “Latisha, you could help so many more women if you turned your passion into a brand and business. Your guidance, advice, and network are way too good to give away for free!” I’d never thought of it that way. I was a connector and resource—an informal and formal mentor. I loved helping women navigate career obstacles and creating plans to reach the next step on their journey. I loved making connections in my network. I would do any and everything I could to ensure women didn’t make the same mistakes I made or hit similar roadblocks. My biggest struggle was determining how to create a brand-independent of my corporate career, which I still love and where I still thrive. How would I make the time to work with women officially while also crushing my career, fully immersing in motherhood and as a wife, all while taking the time to do things for myself?! It’s still a struggle today. But I do a much better job managing my schedule and availability now. It’s a work in progress.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an HR Executive with over 15 years of experience incorporating my knowledge and expertise into developing and implementing talent programs for non-profit organizations and Fortune 500 companies. I leverage my knowledge, skills, and expertise in working with clients.
My areas of expertise include:

-Strategy Development and Execution
-Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
-Congressional relations and government affairs
-External & internal stakeholder relations
-Public/private partnerships

Through Lead with Latisha™, I lead by example to help women with my Company Values in mind. The workplace needs more women of color in leadership roles. No two people are alike, and that’s beautiful. Vulnerability is an important asset in a career and life. Mistakes are the ultimate growth tool if used correctly. The effort is much more important than perfection. Be you. Everyone else is already taken. By incorporating these values into my strategy sessions, I work with my clients to plan a career path that doesn’t feel complicated – we set and achieve goals. It plays to their strengths and passions, so they feel empowered to bring their authentic self to work or any place they are in. YOU are your best advocate. The authentic relationships I build with my clients and audiences set me apart as a trusted career strategist.

What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my family. They support and encourage me in ways I would never imagine. I’m able to do what I do genuinely because of them. Nothing makes me prouder than my daughter telling her friends that her mom is on Google and they can read about all the amazing things I do and how I help people.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy?! Seeing the people I know and love WIN IN LIFE. Especially my clients. I love hearing how they negotiated a raise, finally received the recognition they deserved, landed their dream job, and improved as a leader. It brings me so much pride and joy!
