Check Out Jumara Perry’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jumara Perry.

Hi Jumara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My makeup journey began after high school. At the time, I struggled with my own insecurities, and makeup became a way for me to build confidence and express myself creatively. What started as something I used to feel better about myself quickly grew into a genuine passion as I spent countless hours learning new techniques, practicing, and perfecting my skills.

As my confidence grew, so did my desire to help others experience that same feeling. I realized that makeup is about so much more than appearance, it’s about helping people see the beauty that’s already there. There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching someone’s confidence transform the moment they look in the mirror.

Today, my passion is creating looks that enhance each client’s natural beauty while making them feel confident, empowered, and celebrated. What began as a personal journey of overcoming insecurity has evolved into an opportunity to pour confidence into others, and that’s what continues to inspire me every day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many artists, one of my biggest struggles has been overcoming self-doubt and learning not to compare my work or my journey to others. Building confidence in my artistry took time, especially since makeup started as a way for me to work through my own insecurities.

Another challenge has been growing my clientele and putting myself out there. Building a business requires more than just being talented, it takes consistency, patience, marketing yourself, and continuing to invest in your education and skills. There have been slow seasons and moments where I questioned whether I was good enough, but those experiences pushed me to keep learning and improving.

Looking back, every challenge has helped shape me into the artist I am today. It taught me resilience, reminded me to trust the process, and reinforced why I started in the first place: to help others feel beautiful and confident in their own skin.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in creating soft glam and timeless makeup looks that enhance, rather than hide, my clients’ natural beauty. Whether it’s for weddings, special events, photoshoots, or everyday glam, my goal is always to make every client look like the best version of themselves while ensuring they still feel like themselves.

What I’m most proud of is the confidence my clients leave with. Seeing someone look in the mirror and smile because they finally see what everyone else sees is the most rewarding part of what I do. Makeup has the power to transform not only how someone looks, but also how they feel, and being a part of that experience is something I never take for granted.

I believe what sets me apart is my attention to detail and the experience I create. I take the time to listen to what my clients want, understand their comfort level, and customize every look to complement their unique features instead of following a one-size-fits-all trend. I want every client to leave my chair feeling beautiful, confident, and cared for, not because the makeup changed who they are, but because it highlighted the beauty that was already there.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t think my journey has been about luck as much as it has been about faith, perseverance, and God’s timing. There have certainly been opportunities that came at just the right moment, but I truly believe they were blessings that came from staying consistent, trusting God’s plan, and continuing to work on my craft even when I couldn’t see the bigger picture.

Like many business owners, I’ve experienced slow seasons, self-doubt, cancellations, and moments where I questioned whether I was on the right path. Those challenges strengthened my faith and taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of continuing to show up even when progress wasn’t immediately visible.

One of the greatest blessings has been the clients God has placed in my path. Their trust, referrals, and continued support have allowed my business to grow in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Every opportunity has reminded me that what’s meant for me will never pass me by.

I believe success isn’t built on luck alone. It’s built through faith, hard work, consistency, and preparation. I trust that God opens the right doors at the right time, and my responsibility is to be ready when He does.
