Today we’d like to introduce you to Joie Gadsden.
Joie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Legend has it and as a few may know, it all started with Sam Fine’s Fine Beauty makeup book that my mom passed down to me after expressing my interest in makeup as an art form. I was around 8, but began actually experimenting around 11yrs old. And I’ve been building my knowledge, sharpening my eye, and honing in on my talent ever since! Though makeup & all things beauty are my most recognized creative outlet, I’ve always known my true purpose lies in uplifting and inspiring others through whatever I choose. It’s my bigger picture.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No journey worth taking comes with a perfectly paved road — I prefer the crunch of the gravel. There’s something so fulfilling in knowing and actually seeing you can bring your dreams to fruition, but with that comes your power of choice and using it wisely to your benefit. There comes the hardest most trying decisions of trusting and building your confidence and intuition; going against what you may have conformed to, been told, or have found comfort in. Time and time again, my life’s story has shifted with many rebirths due to using my power of choice and doing the hard things most fear. Whether that’s actively facing fears, doing shadow work and healing, unlearning and growing, or stepping outside of oneself completely to see the bigger picture. I come to a realization that making use of choice is where I often find my freedom and liberation. I implore you who may be reading this to do the same, even if that means going against what you recognize. It truly is greener on the other side!

Haha, no but seriously, I’m a multifaceted creator, specializing in makeup artistry, creative direction, and content creation. I thoroughly enjoy creative processes and storytelling through my work, and hope to leave an inspiring and healing impact on those I get the chance to touch in this lifetime. We’re all apart of someone else’s story, and I’ll never take that for granted.
