Check Out Jessica Hunter’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Hunter.

Hi Jessica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I didn’t have a way of expression, or someone I could talk to, I just had people to that were there, if that makes any sense. Things started happening in my life that made me feel like everything was always my fault, I was taunted into believing so during arguments. I started believing it, and lost focus on myself, and who I am.

I started writing as a way of expression after being diagnosed with Epilepsy at only age 19. I questioned everything in life at that moment, why me? I felt like no one would want someone on daily medication for a serious condition. I think what snapped me out of what little depression I had been going through was the support I didn’t know I had. I’d post poetry on Facebook like me reciting it. I’d post things to keep readers coming back with either words or encouragement or “What’s next?”

I finally created my website (www.Literaturebyjessc.com) where I was not only able to continue writing, but to tell my story. More people started subscribing, and my forms of writing became expanded. I became an advocate of health, an advocate for the youth, and so much more. I’m glad to have gotten the chance to work with Major DJs & Producers from Jersey to Philly, right down to Baltimore.

I have the blessing of getting to call many of them “Family.” Jerseyclub became my home, my comfort zone of music, and writing. I had no choice but to continue to push forward, witth the positive reinforcement of my brothers Urban, and Opxra. “I can’t,” was never an answer or response taken from them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Trials and tribulations come along with everything, life isn’t just you have this and boom. No, you have to work for it.

Having Epilepsy made me legally disabled, but I told myself I could do anything I wanted, and I did just that. I started “Literaturebyjessc” as a business and had my first LLC, I became a teacher, I went to college, started making music, and I went on to share my story.

You can do it! The medicine I take makes it hard to sometimes get things done as they make me drowsy, but I’ve learned ways to handle that, as I’ve lived alone for two years.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in writing blogs in general. It’s the way I stand up for who and what I believe in.

The way I write things makes you feel what myself, or that person may have felt. My proudest moment was reciting poetry in front of an American poet herself. I was nervous that no one would catch the flow of my poetry, and once I finished the room was silent for one second, next thing you know everyone was standing, crying and clapping.

Moments like those gave me the strength to keep pushing, it was an old friend who drove me, coached me with breathing, and watched with a smile. Unfortunately, he has passed due to a sickness, yet his legacy forever lives within me.

Any big plans?
I have a lot of big plans for the future which they say speak them into existence and they are yours. I’ve already claimed to collab with other magazines, producers, and cities.

I’ve already claimed to travel and experience other people’s cultures and ways of living. I’ve already started inspiring people with Epilepsy that just because we are “disabled,” does not make us “incapable”.
