Growing up in the heart of Baltimore City, I faced the harsh realities of a childhood marked by poverty and parents trapped in the clutches of drug addiction.
Despite the challenging circumstances that surrounded me, I clung to a dream of breaking free from the cycle of hardship. My tenacious spirit, fueled by a hunger for knowledge, propelled me through the hurdles of a difficult upbringing. Against all odds, I demonstrated remarkable perseverance.
As I navigated the streets of Baltimore, I found solace in the world of books and writing. The transformative power of language and literature became my guiding light, sparking a passion that would define my journey. Despite the odds stacked against me, I not only completed high school but defied expectations by earning a college degree in English and Professional Writing. Education became my beacon of hope, leading me out of the shadows of poverty and addiction.
Armed with my hard-earned degree, I embarked on a journey to break barriers and redefine my narrative. My tenacity, combined with a gift for storytelling, translated into a social media success story. With a substantial following on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, I leveraged my voice to share my journey, inspire others, and dismantle stereotypes associated with my background. My authenticity resonated with people across the digital landscape, and my success became a testament to the transformative power of education and resilience.
Now, as a social media influencer, I utilize my platform to uplift and motivate others who, like me, hail from small cities and face similar adversities. My story serves as a beacon of hope, illustrating that no circumstance is insurmountable with determination and a relentless pursuit of one’s dreams. Through my posts, I encourage those in my community, especially in Baltimore, to believe in their potential and strive for success.
My journey from the challenges of poverty to social media prominence is a testament to the enduring strength of the human spirit, and I remain dedicated to inspiring others to defy the odds.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
At the tender age of 14, my world shattered when my father passed away, leaving me to shoulder the responsibility of raising my younger siblings. Although my mother was physically present, her battle with addiction hindered her ability to provide the necessary tools and support we desperately needed. As I navigated the challenges of adolescence, I found myself thrust into the role of a caregiver, trying to create a semblance of stability amid chaos.
As the years unfolded, I faced not only the weight of familial responsibilities but also personal struggles. By the time I reached 26, life had led me down a difficult path, and I found myself homeless for two years. Despite my hardships, I dedicated my days to working as a case manager for the special needs population, where I discovered the profound impact, one could have on the lives of others. This experience served as a turning point, revealing to me that life was worth living, even in the face of adversity.
Through my journey of homelessness in Baltimore City, I met incredible people who shared similar struggles. Despite the challenges, these connections provided a sense of community and support that became instrumental in my resilience. While battling thoughts of despair, the gradual recovery of my mother from drug addiction and the growing independence of my siblings fostered a newfound strength within me. Determined to break the cycle and become the matriarch and community figure I aspired to be, I persevered through the toughest times.
Driven by my experiences, I went on to work with some of the best organizations dedicated to serving homeless youth and adults with special needs in the city. Although financial struggles persisted, the meaningful connections and positive impact I made on the lives of others fueled my passion. Today, as I reflect on my journey, I see the transformative power of resilience, community, and the unwavering belief that every life is worth living, no matter the challenges we face.

Embarking on the journey of a serial entrepreneur has been an exhilarating ride, navigating the diverse realms of plus-size modeling, brand strategy, makeup artistry, social media influencing, and writing. Starting my foray into plus-size modeling wasn’t just a decision; it emerged organically when I recognized my talent behind the camera as a photographer. My images became not just captured moments but compelling comp cards, unlocking opportunities to collaborate with renowned brands like Urban Decay, Dove, and Got2B. This realization marked the inception of my multifaceted entrepreneurial career.
As a plus-size model, I’ve embraced the role of a trailblazer, not just challenging but reshaping standards in the industry. My journey began behind the lens, utilizing my photography skills to create powerful comp cards that opened doors to collaborations with industry giants. Beyond my success, I find immense joy in mentoring other artists and guiding them on how to embark on their authentic social media journey. In my role as a brand strategist, I encourage them to embrace their true selves while creating a brand that resonates with authenticity. As I continue to forge my path, I am equally passionate about helping others find their voice and unique identity in the vast landscape of social media and entrepreneurship.
Beyond the digital sphere, I actively work to redefine the narrative of body positivity, transcending the virtual world to make a tangible impact in communities. Currently, my unique focus is on penning a book, aiming to guide others on the transformative journey of falling back in love with their bodies. The evolution of my various talents and experiences has fueled my desire to be a lifelong learner. Each chapter of my entrepreneurial journey propels me forward, not just as a multi-talented individual but as someone committed to continuous growth and the empowerment of others.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
As the pandemic swept through and I found myself jobless, a lingering sense of uncertainty permeated my life. Amid the chaos, I decided to take a leap of faith, a risk that would reshape my trajectory. I hesitantly entered the world of TikTok, feeling a mix of fear and excitement, uncertain about what lay ahead. The prospect of failure loomed large, but I pushed through, determined to explore this uncharted territory.
Stepping into the realm of content creation on TikTok marked a significant departure from my past self. A once introverted individual who shied away from new experiences, I found solace and understanding within the TikTok community. As I navigated this uncharted territory, I discovered a space where my authenticity resonated with others, creating connections that transcended virtual boundaries. The fear of failure slowly transformed into a beacon of motivation as I witnessed the growth of my community.
Surpassing my wildest expectations, within just a year, I found myself connecting with over 10,000 individuals and cultivating a community of almost 24k followers. The support and camaraderie within this digital realm have been nothing short of extraordinary. Through TikTok, I not only found a platform for self-expression but also a community that embraced me for who I am. This risk, born out of necessity during a challenging period, turned into a rewarding venture that not only provided solace during uncertain times but also allowed me to grow personally and appreciate the strength that lies in taking risks.
In reflecting on my unexpected journey into TikTok and the flourishing community that has emerged from it, I’m reminded of the timeless wisdom of Martin Luther King Jr. “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” Embracing the uncertainties, pushing past the fear of failure, and taking that risk has not only allowed me to create content that resonates but has also fostered a sense of purpose and connection.
It is in these daring moments, where one steps into the unknown, that the magic of self-discovery and growth unfolds. So, I encourage everyone to be unafraid of the uncharted, for it is in the risks we take that we often discover the greatest rewards, shaping not only our paths but the very essence of who we are.
