Check Out Jasmine Jackson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Jackson.

Hi Jasmine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a child, I was always drawn to pretty things. I loved playing in my grandmother’s makeup, getting into my aunt’s nail polish and eyeliners. Even though I was not allowed too, I did it anyway. I remember trying on their wigs as well. Growing up, I was a cheerleader and a dancer and I loved doing my makeup for competitions. In college is where I began to explore with beauty makeup.

In 2012, I was hired to work at MAC Cosmetics. I was trained by some of the best makeup artists in the industry. In 2014, I had the pleasure of assisting MAC Senior Artist Dominick Skinner. 2015 was probably the most challenging year for me. I was working full-time in Washington DC at MAC, going to school part-time in the evenings to become and esthetician, a full-time mother, and I did brand promoting at night on the weekends. That year I also earned my certification in microblading. Not fully understanding what God was setting me up for, but the seeds were planted! In 2017, I was fired from MAC! Yes… they fired me. Lol, I was devastated because I thought that was my dream job! Shortly after, I pulled myself together and remembered all that I had been trained for. I started working at a Spa and taking microblading clients full time in the back of a barbershop. A few months later, I went to a tattoo shop and learned so much from some extremely talented tattoo artists. In 2018, I made my business official and got my LLC. I also moved into my first studio! Last year, 2020, was so hard on the world as a whole. I gave birth to my second child. I started my second business, credit repair, and I opened my first storefront location for my Command Beauty. Needless to say… I’m beyond grateful.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been easy. I’ve lost relationships. I’ve been told no so many times. On top of that, I am completely self-funded. I’m also first generation for a few things so, I’m constantly doing research and connecting with people I can learn from.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an esthetician. I’m a makeup artist. I’m a brow artist! I specialize in eyebrows. People know me as Brow goddess Jas. I’m proud of my journey. I’m proud that I never gave up and when people try to talk me out of something, I use it as fuel to go harder. What sets me apart from other artists is me. I am who I say I am and I don’t try to be someone that I’m not. My customer service is top tier. I make my clients feel like we have been friends for years. They have a safe space when they walk into my studio. I am so proud of my team of elite beauty professionals. I’m thankful for Shawann, Alycia, and Jasmine. They are constantly looking out for me and show up and show out every day! My family sacrifices so much for me. I’m beyond grateful.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Cheerleading and dance! I made lifelong friends! It taught me discipline. It taught me self-expression. I was able to travel! I remember one competition specifically. I was coming back from an injury and as we were about to take the floor, one of my teammates rushed to the front to be the first one scene and she ended up tripping and falling! We laughed so hard! Lol.
