Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Wolf.
Hi Jared, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I began drawing on school papers and making comics at home on paper thrown away by the lawyers whose offices my mom cleaned.
Influenced by books I read in school, comic books my brother bought, and cartoons on the TV.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I never made art for any purpose other than for fun. If it’s not fun, I won’t do it.
So, the only obstacle has been the creative drought, which can strike now and again but I’ve taken to using that time to refuel by reading and listening to podcasts and making notes.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Most commonly I make comic-style pop art, collaging my journals of discovery through living. I enjoy attempting to balance high brow and low brow.
I’m most proud when I can execute and express an idea nearest to what I see in my mind’s eye. I sort of go into a trance and it becomes a bit automatic, so if I finish and it’s right, that feels good.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Two of my favorite podcasts are the Daily Stoic and How to Take Over the World.
I enjoy philosophy, History, current events, sports, and true crime podcasts. I also enjoy audio books because I drive for Rock Lititz and can consume history and good fiction during my drives.
