Hi Isis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved flowers and when I got married back in 2021, I wanted to have flowers everywhere. Unfortunately, our budget was really tight and due to the pandemic, we couldn’t have the wedding we wanted, but I made it up by doing my own floral decorations. Doing this birthed a new, deeper passion for flowers and a desire to start my own business making arrangements for all types of events! After launching and doing a few weddings/events, the joy, the life, and how I can help make someone’s day and/or special day 100 times better with floral arrangements fuels my business. We don’t realize how much an arrangement, no matter how big or small, can change a person’s mood and day. And if I can help brighten someone’s day with a beautiful work of art, well it’s something I want to do for the rest of my days. Today, my husband and I work together in the business, with him recently becoming the project manager.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. Starting a business is a blessing but not easy at all. Coming from immigrant parents and learning how to run a business from nothing has been challenging. We’ve faced countless rejections, and it’s tough, but it only takes one ‘yes’ to elevate your business. I honestly couldn’t have built this business without my amazing husband. Having someone who encourages me, takes care of the baby, and reminds me to drink water while I’m running around with flowers everywhere has kept me going. We’ve had to grow and trust each other, figure out what works and what doesn’t, and adapt to the unpredictable nature of our business. Building Blooms from scratch has been an incredible journey, and it’s all about building a solid foundation and prioritizing our relationship. Everything else falls into place.
