Today we’d like to introduce you to I’mani Temia.
Hi I’mani, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, I watched my mother do hair, and that sparked my interest in being a part of the beauty industry. Seeing how beauty could make women feel confident and beautiful really stayed with me from a young age. As I got older, especially during high school, I also admired my cousin Tia and her makeup artistry. She inspired me even more to explore makeup for myself.
Fast forward to 2018, while attending Virginia State University and studying technology, I began doing $20 makeup faces for students on campus. Around that time, Zyaa, an upcoming artist, became one of my biggest muses and helped inspire my creativity and passion for artistry. That same year, I officially launched Temia Beauty, and over time my business continued to grow through consistency, passion, and word of mouth.
As my business grew, I also began developing an interest in content creation. I enjoyed being able to show not only my makeup artistry, but also different aspects of my life from beauty and lifestyle content to career moments, events, travel, and everyday experiences. Content creation became a way for me to connect with people authentically while inspiring others to pursue all sides of themselves unapologetically.
Even while building a professional career in cybersecurity, I’ve continued maintaining and growing my makeup business and content platform because beauty and creativity have always been true passions of mine. Balancing both worlds has shown me that I don’t have to choose between creativity and technology ; I can successfully pursue both.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges for me has been balancing multiple passions and responsibilities at once. While growing Temia Beauty, I was also pursuing my education in technology and later building a professional career in cybersecurity. There were times when it felt difficult trying to balance a full-time career while still dedicating time, energy, and creativity into my makeup business and content creation.
Another struggle was learning how to believe in myself during the beginning stages. Starting out doing $20 makeup faces in college meant I was still learning my artistry, building clientele, and figuring out my brand identity. There were moments of self-doubt, comparison, and trying to navigate an industry that can sometimes feel oversaturated.
I also had to deal with a lot of personal growth and development within myself. As I got older, I began learning more about who I was outside of work, beauty, and social media, and that journey was not always easy. Grieving the loss of loved ones was another major challenge that deeply affected me and at times made me feel unmotivated and disconnected from the things I loved. There were moments where it became difficult to create, stay inspired, or even show up for myself consistently.
Content creation also came with its own challenges. Putting your life online and showing different aspects of yourself can make you vulnerable to criticism and pressure to constantly create. Over time, though, I learned the importance of authenticity and staying true to who I am instead of trying to fit into trends or expectations.
Despite the challenges, every obstacle helped shape me into the creative and businesswoman I am today. Those experiences taught me resilience, consistency, and how to confidently create my own lane while balancing both beauty and technology.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a makeup artist and content creator who specializes in beauty, lifestyle, and digital storytelling. Through Temia Beauty, I provide makeup artistry services while also creating content centered around beauty, confidence, lifestyle experiences, and authenticity. My content includes beauty tutorials, GRWMs, product reviews, event coverage, and everyday lifestyle moments that allow people to connect with me in a genuine way.
I think what I’m most known for is my authenticity and the way I make people feel comfortable, inspired, and confident through my work. I genuinely enjoy making women feel beautiful, whether that’s through makeup artistry or creating relatable content that reflects real-life experiences and personal growth.
What I’m most proud of is building my brand from the ground up. Starting from doing $20 makeup faces at Virginia State University to growing my own business and platform has been a journey that required consistency, faith, and resilience. I’ve continued to push through moments of self-doubt, grief, and personal challenges while still remaining dedicated to my craft.
What sets me apart from others is that I intentionally separate my career in technology from my creative life. I’ve created a private space around my tech career because I value protecting certain parts of my life while still allowing people to experience the creative, beauty, and lifestyle side of who I am. I enjoy showing the softer, expressive, and artistic side of myself through content creation while maintaining boundaries around the professional world I’ve built outside of social media. I think that balance allows me to stay authentic, grounded, and intentional in everything I create.
I’m also passionate about encouraging women to create their own motion and fulfillment outside of relationships. Through my platform and my community concept, FGWC (Fun Girls With Careers), I push the idea that women can enjoy life, pursue their passions, build successful careers, travel, create memories, and still prioritize themselves. I love showing that you can be ambitious, feminine, creative, and independent all at the same time. My goal is always to inspire women to fully embrace who they are, invest in themselves, and never feel like their identity has to revolve around anyone else.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with and support me in many different ways through Temia Beauty and my content creation platform. I’m open to beauty and lifestyle collaborations, brand partnerships, UGC content, event coverage, makeup artistry bookings, sponsored content, and creative campaigns that align with my audience and personal brand.
Support can also come from simply engaging with my content, sharing my work, booking my makeup services, attending events I’m involved in, or collaborating on creative projects. I love partnering with brands and creatives who value authenticity, storytelling, beauty, and genuine connection.
The best way to connect with me for collaborations, bookings, or inquiries is through my social media platforms, email, or inquiry form.
