Check Out Dahnisha’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dahnisha.

Dahnisha , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Some people build a business from a dream.
I built mine from my scars. Before Done With Dots ever existed, I was just a woman trying to find peace with myself — with my skin, my story, and my purpose. Living with over 65 keloids, I used to hide behind makeup, filters, and smiles that didn’t always reflect how I truly felt. But over time, I learned that my imperfections weren’t a curse — they were chapters in my story. That realization led me to write my first book, “Connect the Dots: Discovering Self-Love with Skin Imperfections.” It was raw, honest, and healing. I had no idea that what started as therapy for me would spark something so much bigger. People began reaching out — not just about self-love, but about life, purpose, business, and the courage to start again. That’s when I realized — we’re all just trying to connect our own dots.In 2019, I took that message and turned it into something tangible. I launched Donnie’s Dots — what would later evolve into Done With Dots. What started as helping a few friends design flyers and create marketing content soon grew into a full coaching and consulting brand. I began working with entrepreneurs, leaders, and dreamers who had amazing ideas but didn’t know where to start or how to bring them together.Through Done With Dots, I wanted to create a space where creativity, clarity, and confidence could coexist. A space where business owners could come to get unstuck — whether that meant building a brand, developing systems, refining offers, or simply rediscovering their “why.” Done With Dots is the completion and achievement of a goal, task, project, or event. the dots represent the small details and tasks that must be completed in order to achieve a bigger goal. ultimately, it is our effectiveness and efficiency that help our clients finish what they have started through our business coaching and consulting services.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely

Absolutely not — and honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

When I started Done With Dots, there was no team, no investors, and no outside funding — just faith, determination, and a clear vision to help others connect the dots in their lives and businesses. From the very beginning, I made a conscious choice: I didn’t want business loans. I wanted to build Done With Dots debt-free, even if it meant taking the long road.

For a long time — and still to this day — I’ve been a solopreneur, self-funding every part of this business. I’ve worked full-time and part-time jobs while managing Done With Dots on evenings and weekends, making sure every bill was paid and every client was taken care of, even in the dry seasons. Some nights it was just me, my hot tea, my playlist, and my laptop — staying up late to make sure someone else’s dream came to life before sunrise.

One of my biggest challenges has always been balancing it all — being a professional, a wife, a creative, and a business owner without losing myself in the process. There were times when I questioned if I could truly carry all of it — the vision, the workload, and the pressure — by myself.

Another struggle has been doing everything alone. From coaching to content creation, website design to strategy, I’ve worn every hat this brand has needed. That forced me to master systems, time management, and boundaries early on. It also taught me that building something meaningful doesn’t always require a big team — just big heart, discipline, and consistency.

And then there’s the challenge of building trust. When you’re self-funded, you don’t have the luxury of throwing money at marketing or ads. You have to rely on relationships, results, and reputation. I had to prove, time and time again, that Done With Dots wasn’t just a name — it was a brand that delivered transformation.

But every obstacle taught me something valuable. Every slow season built character. Every “no” became redirection. Every challenge became a chapter in the story I was meant to tell.

So no, it hasn’t been a smooth road — but it’s been my road.
And every bump, every lesson, every late night with hot tea and good music has been worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I like to say I was born into entrepreneurship. I grew up in a family of business owners — surrounded by examples of creativity, resilience, and service. My grandparents and parents ran their own ventures long before entrepreneurship became a trending hashtag, and from them, I learned what it really means to build something from the ground up.

That foundation taught me discipline, leadership, and the power of connection. But over the years, I’ve also learned that true growth happens when you blend the entrepreneurial mindset with real-world experience. That’s why I’ve spent much of my career working in professional roles that have sharpened my skill set and deepened my understanding of business from every angle.

My background includes over six years of experience in sales and marketing, along with professional roles as a Data Manager, Front-End Website Coordinator, and in Special Events, Promotions, and Marketing for Maryland Live! Casino — each position teaching me something vital about structure, communication, systems, and scalability.

In sales, I learned the art of listening — understanding what people truly need, not just what they say they want.
In marketing, I mastered storytelling and strategy — knowing how to build brands that don’t just attract attention but create connection.
As a Data Manager, I developed a love for analytics and organization — turning information into insights that drive decisions.
As a Front-End Website Coordinator, I learned how design and user experience work together to create meaningful digital engagement.
And working in Special Events and Promotions for Maryland Live! Casino taught me how to execute large-scale projects, manage partnerships, and create experiences that leave lasting impressions.

All of those roles helped me build a foundation rooted in both creativity and precision. They gave me the tools to lead, analyze, design, and execute — and those same tools have become the framework for how I now approach my own business and how I support others in theirs.

What I’m most proud of is that I’ve done it all with integrity, balance, and perseverance. I’ve worked full-time jobs while building my business on evenings and weekends. I’ve self-funded every part of my vision without loans or shortcuts. And I’ve remained passionate about helping others connect their purpose with a plan that works.

What sets me apart is that I’m not afraid to merge worlds — the entrepreneur and the employee, the creative and the analytical, the visionary and the executor. I don’t just see potential; I see patterns, systems, and solutions that make it possible to achieve results with excellence and efficiency.

At the end of the day, I’m proud to say my work reflects the best of both worlds — the heart of an entrepreneur and the discipline of a professional — both of which have shaped every dot that led me here.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t about titles, money, or recognition — it’s about alignment.

I define success as waking up every day and being at peace with who I am, what I’m building, and how I’m serving others. It’s knowing that I’m walking in purpose, not just chasing productivity.

Success, to me, looks like impact — when something I’ve created helps someone else gain clarity, confidence, or direction. It’s when a client finally connects their own dots, when a project transforms from an idea to a tangible result, or when someone tells me that my story gave them courage to start theirs.

I’ve learned that success isn’t one big moment — it’s a series of small victories, quiet prayers answered, and lessons learned in the in-between. It’s having balance in the middle of the busyness, faith in the face of uncertainty, and joy even when things don’t go as planned.

I’m proud to say I’ve built my version of success — one rooted in faith, freedom, and fulfillment. Not perfection, not comparison, just purpose.

Because at the end of the day, success for me is simple:
it’s doing what I love, helping others do the same, and staying true to the woman I’m becoming.
