Check Out Aivy League’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aivy League.

Aivy League

Hi Aivy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hello everyone! I’m Aivy, a content creator in The DMV area who focuses on being your favorite interest DMV guide on where to eat & things to do. I started making content for social media in 2017 and I’ve been rolling with it since!

I originally started making content with my cars on my original Instagram @ AivyLeague but a little over a year ago decided to separate my hobbies, thus the SpicyAivy account was born. I hope to continue showing off my passion for events, things to do, and food recommendations for a long time!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think I have the privilege to complain about the bumpy road of social media. When you put yourself out there you have to know that some people simply will not like you, for any reason and that isn’t something to dwell on.

It’s easy to focus on the negative and to get absorbed in the mean comments or the jealousy but once you (myself included) learn to focus on the positive it changes everything.

I’m no longer pressured to post when I don’t feel like it and I only post things that I want to and I feel that it makes a difference in your engagement and following because it’s quality > quantity and passion over everything.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love my social media platforms! I’m so proud of being ✨️different✨️, my feed is my personality and I love that people see that.

It isn’t so much a business but more so a blog where I can show off all the events I support, businesses I recommend, and photos that I love. I may not be your typical DMV creator but I do my best to answer questions and reply to comments with so much room to grow, together with my supporters and followers.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My parents are everything to me, they’re My biggest role models. My parents are both first-generation immigrants who came here at a young age from foreign countries during the Vietnam War without knowing the English language. They survived the war, refugee camps, and racism, and most importantly they built the foundation for my sisters and me to grow on.

Oftentimes, as a child, I found myself taking advantage of my privilege of being able to do so many activities here in The DMV; my parents kept us busy! From horseback riding, swim team, gymnastics, ice skating…anything we wanted to try my parents made sure we did.

What I didn’t see was the extra hours they worked so I could get a new pair of riding trousers or late nights they did so I had a new backpack for school. As an adult and, more importantly, a ✨️millennial✨️ I appreciate them more than ever. They molded me into the independent person I am and I couldn’t be more thankful. I love you, Mum and Dad.
