Check Out Aaron McSterling’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron McSterling.

Hi Aaron, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Who you see and meet today would not have been the same Mr. McSterling 10 or even 20 years ago. You would have met simply, Aaron. A young gay black boy who only had a glimpse of who he was and had the potential to be. While his childhood isn’t one that would capture headlines or make primetime news, it was enough hell for Aaron to not feel seen, loved or heard which resulted in him being a closeted functioning depressant. At 18, Aaron had a major decision to make, stay in Maryland or attempt to pursue a different life in New York City. Moving was the best life altering decision he would realize he’d made. He met so many beautiful people, but one soul in particular resonated and a brotherhood was formed. In that brotherhood, Aaron was allowed the freedom and acceptance to explore and define exactly who he was. You will often hear him say, “I was born and raised in Maryland but I got my life in New York!” Fast forward to today…

Hello, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Aaron b.k.a Mr. McSterling. I am very grateful for the early life I have experienced, it showed me a universal truth that I stand by each and every day. And that’s to make sure everyone I come in contact with feels SEEN, HEARD and feel the LOVE that bonds us! With that understanding, I understood I would not have just one path in life. I would have to have a hand in many experiences that actually made a difference in people’s everyday life. I started my journey in becoming a certified Life Coach. There I garnered the tools and mindset that was needed to assist in personal development, life and career planning and many other instruments that help people transform life as they currently live it. Before same-sex marriage was legal and up to states AND businesses to decide if they’d allow a same-sex couple to marry; I became an ordained minister in case anyone that wanted to wed would have someone in their corner and have power vested by the state to do just that. Furthering my life’s purpose in aiding people to be heard, feel seen and loved, I decided to take a leap of faith and help people with one of their biggest ordeals in life. I became a licensed Realtor™ in Maryland (Baltimore/Prince Georges County) and Northern Virginia. I enjoy the work that I do, but even more it delights me to be of service to others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely NOT! Life tried to knock me down several times. I would journal all throughout my early adult life and would be affected by so much trauma and pain. There were times I had absolutely no whole dollars in my account, only cents. I had no knowledge of how any bills would be paid, food would be consumed or even money to wash clothes. I’ve had people use me and take advantage of my kindness. I’ve stood the test of times with friends that not many relationships would stand a fight. While I’ve been broke and broken, the biggest obstacle was something that no one or nothing could change or fix, not even soften the blow.

It’s like the hardest mission at the end of the game and you have to beat the toughest boss/challenge before you can claim your win. That obstacle, that challenge, that final boss was no other than Aaron McSterling himself. It was my mindset and belief system that was rooted in past hurt and trauma. It wasn’t until I was able to shower myself in love that came without condition. No judgment of what feeling or emotion came up and a vow to always speak my truth and the truths of others as long as I live. It took work and conscious effort in building myself up to surpass any limiting belief.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
It’s truly difficult to put myself and what I do and plan to do in a box. I’ve learned my life isn’t going to be a cookie-cutter experience. Which is why I’ve coined and trademarked Lifestyle Extraordinaire™. It’s meant to be all-encompassing and representative of my passion for others.

I am actively practicing Real Estate in the Maryland and Northern Virginia Markets and am always taking new clients. I also am active in officiating non-traditional weddings of all couples and those in love. As I’ve said previously, I started my entrepreneurial journey becoming a life coach, I still coach individuals that demonstrate the readiness of change.

Of all the things I’ve done in my life, I am most proud that I found my light that was created to shine as bright as the sun AND built the courage to live out each day omnipresently myself and that is what sets me apart from others.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
While the majority of my childhood wasn’t the prettiest tale or happiest period in my life, my favorite memory happens to be all the times I was able to go over 2 separate family members homes on weekends where I was given the space to express my personality and not be met with harsh critiques and harmful lashings. I would look forward to going over their homes and remember the sense of freedom that came every Friday and left each Sunday after breakfast. It takes special people like this that can make outstanding impacts in someone’s life.
