Bryan Dixon of Mt. Washington on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Bryan Dixon and have shared our conversation below.

Bryan , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Doing story game playthroughs on YouTube. It feels good to just immerse myself in a Game and enjoy the atmosphere.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello Everyone my name is Bryan Dixon aka Yoko. I go my ItsJustYoko_ in the gaming industry. I’m a variety gamer on YouTube but I specialize in story driven adventure games. I do short form content as well also on YouTube. My playthroughs are silent so people can follow along as if they were watching television. My brand is known as the Relaxation Station. Get on the Train to a destination of Vibes.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a kid who always had the dream of getting paid to play Video games. The gaming world is such an overwhelmingly saturated industry. I feel like when I was in my teens to early adulthood it was insane to people that I wanted to play games so much. Everyone thought it wasn’t a realistic goal to have. My life started to shape when I became a father. My daughter changed my life but my dream never faded.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that in those dark times, you find out who really supports you. I’ve been depressed , sad , had imposter syndrome. All the emotions of struggling and feeling like you won’t make it or things are too tough. It taught me patience it taught me resilience. I learned that as hard as things may seem at times it could always be worse or more challenging than it is. I’ve learned that you just need to take a step back and process before making decisions on impulse alone.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is the same exact person I am in the social media or content creator space. I am 100% my authentic self in both realms. I know people have a persona sometimes and like to play a character or different personality to their audience. I want people to know me genuinely for who I am. A Gaming Dad who is avid gamer but loving Father.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people tell the story of how real I was. Tell people that I was a stand up guy who would give you the shirt off his back. I was also the guy who would hold your feet to the fire if you were wrong in a situation. He loved his child and woman with every fiber of his being. That I was one of the most loyal friends you ever met. But overall I want people to know that I was a good person.
