Brittany Veney shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Brittany, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think many people are secretly struggling with the quiet realization that they’re unfulfilled. On paper, their life looks “successful,” but behind the scenes, they feel stuck, undervalued, or misaligned with their true purpose. They don’t say it out loud because it feels risky to admit, especially when they’re the ones their family, friends, or colleagues look up to.
Some are afraid of starting over. Others are afraid of being judged for wanting more. But deep down, they know they were meant for something different, something greater. I know that feeling well because I lived it. That’s why I created Brand Your Exit; to help women walk away from what no longer serves them and build brands that give them freedom, fulfillment, and financial sustainability.
It’s not just about quitting a job. It’s about reclaiming your voice, your story, and your future without shame or apology.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Brittany Veney, a brand strategist and creative director who recently made the bold decision to walk away from my federal government career and fully step into entrepreneurship. I’m the founder and CEO of B. Real Creative Studio, a multi-faceted design agency that helps entrepreneurs and organizations build magnetic, memorable, and money-making brands with clarity and confidence.
After spending years helping others grow their brands on the side while juggling a demanding government job, I knew it was time to stop playing small. That decision became the foundation for Brand Your Exit — a movement and mentorship space I created to help women confidently walk away from roles, routines, or relationships that no longer serve them, and build purpose-driven brands that actually support the life they want.
What makes my work unique is that I don’t just focus on logos and websites. I help people clarify their message, market with confidence, and monetize with intention. Everything I do is rooted in real strategy, authentic storytelling, and the belief that our purpose deserves to be profitable. Right now, I’m focused on growing the Brand Your Exit platform, expanding our design subscription service, and securing national brand partnerships that amplify the voices and visions of underrepresented creatives and entrepreneurs.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a creative little girl with big ideas and an even bigger heart. I was a natural leader, always organizing something, always dreaming up new possibilities. I was curious, expressive, and full of purpose before I had language for it. I believed I could do anything until life started handing me limitations dressed up as expectations.
Somewhere along the way, I was taught to choose security over creativity. I was praised for being responsible but not always for being visionary. So I followed the “right” path which was degrees, federal job, steady paycheck, and while I was grateful, I also felt disconnected from my true calling.
The version of me that existed before all of that is still here. She just had to fight to be heard again. Stepping into full-time entrepreneurship and building Brand Your Exit wasn’t just a career move. It was a return to who I’ve always been, someone who was never meant to shrink, settle, or stay silent. Someone who leads with purpose and empowers others to do the same.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of being misunderstood. For a long time, I played it safe, did what was expected, and dimmed parts of myself to make other people comfortable. I was afraid that if I fully showed up with my ideas, my ambition, and my voice, I would be seen as too much or not enough at the same time.
That fear kept me in rooms I had outgrown, at jobs that didn’t fulfill me, and in patterns that didn’t reflect the life I truly wanted. I knew I had more in me, but I also knew the minute I really stepped out, I wouldn’t be able to turn back.
Eventually, I realized that the cost of staying quiet was far greater than the fear of being seen. And now, I use that same voice to help other women step into their own. Through my work and through Brand Your Exit, I show others that fear may still exist, but it no longer gets to lead.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say that purpose matters to me. That I don’t just chase success for the sake of it, I’m driven by meaning, by legacy, by the impact I leave behind. My friends know I care deeply about people, especially women who are trying to find their way back to themselves after sacrificing so much for everyone else.
They’d say I value freedom, not just financially but mentally and emotionally. I want to feel free in my work, my relationships, and my decisions. They would also say I’m big on honesty, clarity, and ownership. I take responsibility for my life and I encourage others to do the same.
More than anything, I think they’d say I care about helping people stop settling. That I really believe we all deserve a life, a brand, and a legacy we can be proud of.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am in full alignment. That means my values, my purpose, and the work I do all flow together without friction. It happens when I’m creating something meaningful, whether it’s designing a brand, leading a strategy session, or writing content that inspires someone to take action.
I also find peace in quiet moments. Early mornings when the world is still, when I can hear my thoughts clearly and check in with myself. Those moments help me reset and reconnect with what matters.
There is also a deep peace in knowing I chose myself. Leaving a secure government job to run my business full time was one of the hardest and most freeing things I’ve ever done. Every time I look at how far I’ve come, I feel proud, grounded, and deeply at peace with the woman I’ve become.
