Von Tae shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Von Tae, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes is me planning my day on paper or in my notes app. I tend to write out all of the things I want to do, even the most simple things like eating breakfast. Sometimes I can become a workaholic and skip breakfast so I have to include that on my list. I’ll create my list, eat breakfast, scroll through emails, hydrate with a glass of water, check my music analytics and then I sometimes like to do a light stretch to get my body up and ready to move for the day. Sometimes I may go for a walk, then come back to make sure I hydrate some more. Currently, I’m trying to avoid social media very early unless it’s necessary. Ice mushroom coffee has become a daily thing for me now and it helps keep my energy and mood levels stable. Other than that, within the 90 minutes I may clean up a bit around the house and then get dressed for anything else that may come up during my day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey readers! My name is Von Tae and I’m an entertainer, host, singer and all around creative! I am in the process of starting multiple brands outside of my singing career, starting with The R&B Room which is a late night show discussing the latest and legends of the R&B world. I am also working on doing more philanthropy work in the future to help foster children and homeless, as I have been both growing up. Music is my passion, and thats what I currently do outside of my regular day job. I am working on building an empire for myself, hoping to change the lives of others and inspire them as well through my journey.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was being a kid growing up in my room. No bills, no responsibilities, just guided by my imagination. I felt so liberated. I was able to be what I wanted, no judgment. I had so much joy in my life growing up in the 90s and early 2000s. Things back then just felt so effortless to me and those around me.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I have learned that fear is something we all experience when something is either unfamiliar or we don’t understand it. I’m learning that if I’m afraid of something I must go through it again and again to understand why and how to overcome it. Failing hard allowed me to see my mistakes, things that I didn’t understand before and move ahead with my caution but also the skills to endure whatever situation better.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think most of them now would say my space. I don’t talk as much as I use to on the phone, text, etc. I’m more of a “I have things to do please give me my space” phase of life. Some understand, others don’t but what matters the most to me is that I don’t give in to the judgement of others because I simply want to take time for me and better my life.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that people share that I am kind, compassionate, talented, I overcame everything that I faced and most importantly (what my mom always told me), I never gave up.
