An Inspired Chat with Tiimy Reid

Tiimy Reid shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Tiimy, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes, a few moments have made me proud!
1. I sold a painting
2. I have been accepted to be featured on LED Billboard for this year
3. I have finally escaped the longest artist block possible and is creating full time now

As far as laughter I try to laugh everyday whether it’s funny tiktoks or my own jokes!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Tiimy Reid, l’m a nonbinary multidisciplinary artist! I love to create the mythical beings and oddities that people can’t see beyond the naked eye. Art has played a huge roll in my life with my mom being a painter and my dad being apart of the choir. Seeing my mother creating beautiful pieces encouraged me to start my journey as an artist. After graduating from High school I decided to share my love for art to the world. Eight years and millions of YouTube videos later my versatile skills has open so many doors for me! It has also provided me with knowledge/resources to provide opportunities/guidance to all aspiring creatives in my city. My struggle is to not only prove my own worth, but to help build a world where the next generation of artists doesn’t have to fight so hard just to be heard. My dream of becoming a star isn’t just about personal fame; it’s about shining a light on the path for all the others who are still finding their way in the dark.

I can’t really share what I’m working on, but just know that I have beautiful things in the works!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I no longer believe that my talent or art hold no value in this world. . .

When I was younger I felt that my art was less than because the lack of recognition I got from my family. They couldn’t understand why choosing my creative journey was so important to me. Which is hilarious to me is my whole family has so much talent shoutout to my siblings for staying true to who they are. My mom gave bearth to stars. Outside of family things the countless rejection have taught me that my worth is not determined by external validation, but by the love i give myself to fuel my creativity. This isn’t just a battle for a spotlight; it’s a testament to the resilience of my own voice declaring that every single stroke, flash, and word I create is a valuable contribution regardless of who is watching!

Also special thank you to everyone who loves, like, share, and recommend my artistry! I appreciate every single one of you! <3

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say, ” You’re the most beautiful girl that anyone has ever seen. You have your own identity and that is why those bullies were upset. I love the way you express yourself through fashion, art, and the corny jokes. You know people actually think you’re funny? You don’t how bright your light shines when you walk into a room!”

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely why fake for the public when they will find out eventually. You go further when you’re being your authentic self!

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when

1. I create (I know haha corny): Seriously though when my world is crashing apart just give me a room full of supplies! I’ve also been working with others whose values align with mine causing me to feel more lighter.

2. Being in nature: Nature is fascinating most of my inspiration comes from nature. No one really knows this, but I’m a bug lover (especially spiders). I love searching for them or just watching them live their lives. I like to think of it as we are living in their world when we go outside so just be gentle until the show signs of attack.
