An Inspired Chat with Sheila Hall of Randallstown Maryland

We recently had the chance to connect with Sheila Hall and have shared our conversation below.

Sheila, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Gratitude! No matter what it looks like, I have learned that starting my mindset off with gratitude can navigate my day with intention on my goals. It keeps me focused and helps me weed out the noise.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sheila Lavonne Hall. I am a Medical Technologist with a focus on microbiology and a Holistic and Functional Medicine Practitioner with a focus on women’s health and pain management. I have a book sone to be released titled “Don’t Stay in Vagus”. This is a book that helps women learn, understand and practice holistic and herbal remedies with menopausal symptoms naturally by using the Vagus Nerve. This is a breakthrough and scientifically proven method that isn’t talked about. I’ve also developed a board game that gives women the opportunity to connect with each other, laugh and learn about menopausal symptoms.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
God! When I went through menopause, my lights went out like a switch! I experienced suicidal thoughts, depression and anxiety. I stayed in a dark corner in my house trying to understand what’s happening to me and who was I! It was at that time that I studied “Holy Yoga”.. This was a practice of connecting your mind body and spirit with the word of God. This is what gave me the affirmations that I still use to this day, “God is my Father, my Husband, my Provider, my Healer, my Best Friend, He sees me, He Loves Me, He Protects me”. This is how I stopped myself from suicide. That’s when I started understanding the power of the Vagus Nerve.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
When I went through menopause, I started noticing how little it was talked about, especially with women of color. After everything I learned about hormonal health and functional medicine , I decided to share my experiences of loosing everything because of it, but gaining a new love for me in spite of it. I thought about the phrase “what goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas, and an ah-ha thought came to me. In the body, our Vagus nerve is the communication network to our brains and it is very much involved with menopausal symptoms. That’s powerful right there!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say, the practice of healing. All of my life, from the moment I lost my father when I was 4 years old, I was put in a space of healing, for my mom and , my brother and that only expanded to anyone who I met that showed brokenness, I was there to offer support and encouragement. That only manifested to learning about spiritual and holistic healing practices.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I’m a creature of nature. I’m so much at peace standing with my feet barefoot in the earth, vibrating with the sounds of water, listening to the animals speak and feeling the kiss of the wind and the warmth of the sun on my skin. Yes, I’m most at peace in nature.
