An Inspired Chat with Pear Marni

We recently had the chance to connect with Pear Marni and have shared our conversation below.

Pear, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: When was the last time you felt true joy?
I think probably the last time I tasted a honey dew smoothie w/ boba… that was last week.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello everyone! My name is Pear and I’m a Baltimore based licensed nail tech. I run a business called Pearadise Nail Setz where I provide beauty services and sell super cute junked out accessories/products. A big part of what makes my nail art unique is how detailed it can get. I hear a lot of people say other nail techs weren’t able to execute certain designs when they’d inquired… I’m really just here to bring those ideas to life. My passion is surely another defining characteristic of mine that sets me apart from others in my field.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was younger I used to have this deep fear that I’d never be enough due to unrealistic expectations constantly being placed on me in several aspects of life. I’ve thankfully since released such pressure and accept myself everyday.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
You have to pick your hard.

I barely care to elaborate but people act like I’m spitting bs when I say shit like that. No one cares how hard you cry or how hard you work. Do everything for yourself with good faith/intentions. Try every single thing you want to do. Be bad at it. Fail fast, win faster. #Grind but like for real!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
To an extent… tip of the iceberg yk?

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Probably my general creativity or my ability to hold a decent conversation. Both of those factors contribute towards great appointments with my clients although a good chat can slow me down some. I do think it’s important to get to know the person sitting in my chair at least a little lol.
