An Inspired Chat with Mr. Sir Charles of Union Square, Baltimore City

Mr. Sir Charles shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Sir, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Watching my friends, family, and peers achieve their goals and celebrate their successes has brought me much joy lately. Their happiness and accomplishments inspire me and remind me of the importance of community and support.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Mr. Sir Charles, and I am the proud owner of Goldenboi Entertainment. I am a versatile entertainer with expertise in DJing, radio and podcast hosting, singing and songwriting, acting, and serving as an energetic master of ceremonies. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with several major outlets, which has allowed me to showcase my talents across various platforms. I am developing an exciting new podcast highlighting eclectic artists within the DMV area, aiming to promote diverse musical and artistic skills and share their stories with a broader audience. I’m passionate about connecting communities through entertainment and constantly exploring new ways to inspire and entertain.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My very close friend Moni. She saw my talent before I did myself and always spoke life into me whenever I needed encouragement. Her belief in me helped me recognize my potential and keep pushing forward, even when I doubted myself.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be: The traits that sometimes make you feel misunderstood or disliked are the same qualities that eventually earn you respect, love, and success. Embrace your uniqueness, because what makes you different now will set you apart and bring you abundance in the future. Trust that you’re ahead of your time—those who call you crazy today will someday see your brilliance.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe I had to figure everything out before turning 30. But now I realize that life isn’t a checklist, and growth happens at its own pace. It’s okay to take your time, make mistakes, and discover who you truly are. The idea of having it all together by a certain age was naive—true success is about learning, evolving, and embracing your journey, no matter how winding it may be.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
That’s a profound reflection. If I knew I had 10 years left, I might focus more on living authentically and priorities that truly matter to me, perhaps stopping worries about outside opinions, financial burdens that don’t align with my values, or societal expectations around credit. It’s about embracing what brings genuine happiness and fulfillment in the time I have.
