An Inspired Chat with LuzCelenia Arce of Mt. Vernon

We’re looking forward to introducing you to LuzCelenia Arce. Check out our conversation below.

Hi LuzCelenia, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think a lot of people are struggling with loneliness. Not just being alone, but the aching sense of not truly being seen, safe or understood. Some are battling shame about their desires, bodies and/or identities. Others are carrying the quet grief of dreams they’ve buried because of life, trauma, or indoctrination told them they can’t have them. And honestly? Many are just exhausted from performing roles instead of living in their whole selves. The sad part is all of those struggles complicates their feelings of loneliness because how can one be truly seen, safe and understood if they don’t first experience those things within themselves and then live in that authenticity?

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m LuzCelenia, the founder of The Radiant Sessions, where I guide survivors of purity culture and religious abuse, as well as anyone ready to reclaim their pleasure, sensuality and sense of self toward healing, embodiment, radical self-expression and true freedom. What makes The Radiant Sessions unique is how I combine trauma-informed coaching, sensual embodiment and creative practices to help people reconnect with their bodies, desire, and their power.

Alongside that, through my brand Charm City Live Music, I’m soon launching “heART2soUl: Songs & Stories,” an intimate evening of live performances, healing and curated connection, centering Baltimore’s grown and sexy Black community. Created and hosted by me, this isn’t just a concert or a party-it’s a vibe. Expect local soul and R&B musicians, poets and creatives performing in a lush, mood-lit space where pleasure, artistry, healing and Blackness are celebrated with intention.

I’m passionate about creating spaces where people can feel fully themselves, whether through my coaching, music, or immersive experiences. Both of my brands, The Radiant Sessions and Charm City Live Music, are about reclaiming voice, presence and joy and inviting others to do the same.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
One of my closest friends and the man who still makes me heart beat stronger and my smile brighter, Brian. From the moment I met him 20 years ago, he reflected back to me how special I was even though then I didn’t believe it for myself. He consistently affirmed me, telling me and others, not only that I was an artist but also a star. He protected me and defended me in conversations I wasn’t privy to and believed in me out loud in ways that others who said they loved me did not. He loved me until I was able to see myself the way he saw me and for that I will forever love and be grateful for him.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wounds in my life were around worth, security, and feeling inherently enough. They were amplified by toxic theology, religious indoctrination, and purity culture. Growing up, I internalized messages that my body, desires, and creativity were sinful and carried a lot of shame because of it. Coupled with my mother wound due to abandonment, emotional enmeshment and parentification; this left me seeking approval, doubting my value, and questioning whether I could ever fully belong in my own skin let alone become the person I longed and was destined to be.

Healing those wounds has meant reclaiming my body, pleasure and creativity from shame and fear. I’ve unlearned the lies of purity culture and toxic theology by deconstructing and decolonizing m beliefs, creating practices through The Radiant Sessions, music and embodiment work that honor my worth, desires and authentic expression. I’ve learned to reparent and nurture myself as the mother I needed and deserved, celebrate my value unapologetically and stand in my power, pleasure and abundance – proving to myself that I am sacred and enough exactly as I am.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie my industry tells itself is that divine feminine and divine masculine energy are rigid roles we must fit into like women must always be soft and nurtured and men must be strong and dominant. In reality, these energies are fluid, present in everyone and are meant to be balanced within ourselves. Reducing them to stereotypes keps us disconnected from our full power and pleasure.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I am someone who helped others see themselves clearly and love themselves better, someone who held space for healing, pleasure and joy without shame. I want to be remembered as a light who reclaimed her own power and inspired others to do the same, as a healer, artist and creative who poured her soul into music, words and experiences that nurtured deep connection and embodied sovereignty. Most of all, I hope they remember that I lived fully, loved loudly and celebrated life and the body as sacred.
